oh my god. around midnight last night, CPD flooded an occupied, 61-unit apartment building with tear gas and pepper spray to try to force one guy out.

it didn’t work! the guy’s still there! but they did make a bunch of people sick and displaced instead

The Cambridge Police (still exclusively on X, naturally) are furiously spinning this debacle. After hours of antagonizing community members, they teargassed a low-income apartment building with NO WARNING. An elderly resident & a baby were sent to the hospital, and dozens suffered while CPD watched.

That’s when I thought: we can’t let New York beat us!

This win belongs to the climate, labor & community orgs who organized advocacy sessions with 100+ electeds—& legislators on the inside. We demanded a removal of old barriers to ensure the transparency needed for good govt & effective inside-outside organizing.

With the immense power the State House has over our material realities, it's all the more important for us to know what’s going on so we can more effectively fight.

but as I discovered while calling and texting Boston organizers I knew—the pitch wasn’t hard.

last fall, I was excited by the possibility of a socialist being elected as NYC mayor. despite feeling disillusioned with politics as usual I made a commitment to help canvass.

this month, I’m grateful to have found myself surrounded by so many friends, knocking doors & celebrating in astoria. 3/6

to be a leftist in america means to always reside outside certain understood norms of politics.

that outsider feeling can often make you feel small.
