Let's try this again 👋
Hi Bluesky - I'm Massachusetts' Attorney General. You might know me from suing President Trump nearly 50 times, beating Uber and Lyft in court, or being the first woman of color elected to statewide office in MA.
I officially left X today - help me find my MA people?

Promotion for Book Riot podcast. Woman wearing a blue coat and pink hat and scarf. Text: “Oh, come on, you can get rid of this one book? What that aren’t living library every day don’t understand is that collections are built with intention, very deliberately, and curated very carefully. Every book is on that shelf for a reason.” Martha Hickson, Librarian/THE LIBRARIANS, film participant
I usually hate my photos, but I’m not mad at this promo for THE LIBRARIANS & the BookRiot podcast. This pic was taken in Berlin @ the Empty Library, site of the 1933 Nazi book burning. That moment will stay w me forever. It’s a reminder of the stakes of censorship.

We need to dismantle ICE and CBP when Democrats are in the majority.
In the meantime, we cannot send another cent to DHS without massive reforms to protect the American people.

Too often when discussing trans rights, we’re forced to be on the defensive, as Republicans wage attacks.
Today, we take the opportunity to look forward by introducing my Trans Bill of Rights, a comprehensive vision to provide protections for all trans and nonbinary people.

I know I’m really late to the whole DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL extravaganza, but I’m loving every minute. It’s the apocalypse + Hunger Games + Solo Leveling + tonally Terry Pratchett. Writer’s aside: @mattdinniman.bsky.social is a tracking genius (and arguably a regular genius). I cannot even imagine how

Artist uses Harry Potter books to make portraits of murdered trans women
A Vermont-based artist is making a statement after using Harry Potter books to make powerful portraits of murdered trans women.
I spent a long time trying to figure out what to do with my Harry Potter books, because just dumping them in a little free library felt wrong. So I mailed them to this artist who was turning them into portraits of murdered trans women

A poster advertising an author signing. The top text reads OLA Super Conference Book Signing. There are two circles featuring the faces of Casey Lyall and Jessica Vitalis with text in between that says Friday, Jan 30th, 10 am and their names listed below. Two book covers are shown below that. One on the left for The League of Littles which shows three kids in action poses and a leaping hamster. The one on the right is for Unsinkable Cayenne which shows a girl and dog standing on train tracks, looking up at birds in the sky. Orange arrows in the centre point at either book. The top one pointed at The League of Littles says that it is a Silver Birch Express nominee. The bottom one pointed at Unsinkable Cayenne says that it is a Red Maple nominee. The bottom text says 'find us at the HarperCollins booth!'
If you're headed to @onlibraryassoc.bsky.social's Super Conference this week, make sure you stop by the HarperCollins booth @ 10 am on Friday! @jessicavitalis.bsky.social and I will be signing copies of our @forestofreading.bsky.social nominated books! (And I've got fun swag to hand out!) #OLASC2026

From the Lighthouse January, 2026
Progress, not perfection
My January newsletter just went out. We're in the dead of winter, and the world is feeling pretty dark. A lot of people are in a lot of pain. This month I share why I'm trying to focus on slow growth over perfection. I hope you'll read (and subscribe, at the bottom).

This is the sort of contract that if you were entertaining signing it, your friends should smash through a window, do roll on the floor, leap up in a feral pounce and slap it out of your hands

This is so important. More and more research shows that brains develop responsively—to trauma, to treatment, to words, to thoughts, to a culture that takes women’s (and girl’s) labor and service for granted. So yeah, maybe girl brains are more mature sooner, but WHY?

The fact that four hostile drones tried to hit Zelenskyy’s plane & it’s barely a blip in the news cycle should terrify everyone. We’ve been dragged so deep into the chaos era that an attempted strike on a world leader doesn’t even break through. When this becomes normal, the world is in real danger.
