Mid-C19th five-pound banknote including a coat of arms with dragons.
Since we appear to be arguing about whether there should be animals on banknotes, and if so which animals, I'm going to point out that this is the five-pound note issued by the Dundee Banking Company in 1845, and it had dragons on it.
Also moving is expensive.
A colourful vintage advertisement shows a brass bed with an ornate headboard, covered by a patterned, orange quilt. The text promotes "McLintock's Patent Down Clothing, Extremely Light With Great Warmth.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Today is #NationalNappingDay
We'll be back with you shortly ๐ค
Glad to hear progress, even if small.
Oh rats, meant to start hashtaging. #beekeeping
Pine boards with finger joint cut outs and a gripping space cut
Lots of pine pieces of wood for a beehive kit
Opened the kit boxes to assess what I need to do.
I shall!
Blasted time gremlins have stolen an hour of daylight from me.
Our daughter scared a coyote off the neighbor flock once. She was reading in the backyard in a hammock and looked up when she heard them panicking - they free ranged through our yard as well as the neighbor's.
I think we'll get there, but not this year. :) Also have to work out what/where the coop would be. Lots of predators near us (which is why the neighbors stopped keeping them, along with their kids getting older and having more after school sports and whatnot)
There's a robust local bee-keeping community, and I've been taking monthly classes and reading up to get ready. Still have to assemble my hives, but that should be a nice woodworking exercise (I bought kits, so it's mostly nailing and painting).
Entering my husbandry phase to go along with the gardening. Have ordered 2 sets of bees (enough to start 2 hives) for arrival late April. We've considered chickens - we enjoyed the neighbor's chickens & fresh eggs - but they take more daily attention than I can give right now.
I liked the maps, too. :) I would have been fine without them because I'm the sort of person that has already bought a map to use for planning but they're helpful when you're reading.
Bought "Getting to Know Edinburgh" just recently & read it in anticipation of a visit later this year. Highly recommend it. Entertaining to read and good suggestions for the visit.
I know surgery is terrifying but glad they are at least able to do it. Hope it goes well.
You need a nice freehold bed without a chain! Maybe one that can pass the electrical inspection. Hope this gets sorted quickly. I hear it's a stressful day all around.
Holding you all in my thoughts. Love to all.

Always a bit nervous when 2 people in hard hats and high-vis walk by shining a light on the pipes over your head. #OfficeLife
Thanks - someone posted this into my feed and I've purchased it. Heading to Edinburgh for a few days later this year. I opened it at random and the route was covering some places I want to see.
Nighttime picture of a human-established watering hole in the Namib Desert. It's round, apparently concrete, with a small concrete "island" in the center, and there is an owl at the edge, which we see from behind. The owl's wings are folded against its body in a manner that suggests a short jacket; its legs look like the owl is wearing white stockings, and its head is turned to the left; we can see one eye (shining in the watering hole's low light), and a very little bit of its beak.
ok but why does this owl at a watering hole in the Namib desert (which I saw via the watering hole's webcam) look like a little old English lady-owl on an evening walk who kicked off her shoes but left her stockings on to cool her feet in a pond on the outskirts of the village?
I've always seen half of Australia as a dog's head but only today did I realise WHICH dog and what the other half resembled. You might say it was a "Woah" moment

Since this was completely unexpected, my car is still at the parking lot at work and I didn't have a book to read in my work backpack. Luckily during the surgery I went to get food and the cafe by the hospital sold books. That was especially good given all my devices were running out of charge.
Stressful days - M had to have emergency eye surgery yesterday for a detached retina. Sameday/outpatient but didn't get home until almost 11pm . I still have to do all the driving which is almost as stressful for M as the surgery, lol. Seems like okay at the follow up, but scary. 1/2
Sorry to hear it got this bad but glad it's getting treated and taken care of by respiratory.
I'm so sorry. All the stress from the one and then a broken system on top. *Hugs*
Close up of cat sitting very precisely on a folded dish towel on a countertop. Her tail is wrapped around her feet not touching. Next to her are a small clear glass bowl of water and four limes.
If you look closely, Mother, you will see I am not in fact on the counter.
Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.
Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.
It's also almost word for word reply from another account that I blocked yesterday. Probably a bot, at least a troll.
