Except for one kid (who moved away), all the kids at my child’s birthday party had a Migrationshintergrund (mostly Ukraine and Syria). The kids are awesome and I mean this not in a “so many foreigners!” way, but in a “Berlin is segregated once you look at schools” way.

Amid all the ups and downs, one constant in 2025 was the support from friends. My last big task was a guest lecture in @leahorvat.bsky.social's course on cultural history. My first Vorlesung was stressful, but went well, and we even had time to relax in Jena. Hope for more vibes like this in 2026!
