About time! Very many congratulations!! πΎπΎπΎπππ
@hintondm.bsky.social will give you one
Thank you for another thought provoking chat! Good evening all! #LTHEchat
That too, I guess the emphasis is donβt change it for the sake of it or for wanting to make a personal impact regardless. #LTHEchat
A6 Less of the upstairs/downstairs culture, some (not all!) academic staff donβt seem to want to treat PS staff as experts. This needs to change! #LTHEchat
But I canβt spell with a pen! π’ #LTHEchat
A5 for senior leaders - Make up your mind, donβt change your mind unless things are heading for a car crush, stick to your plan you decided 5 mins agoβ¦ give us a chance to make it a reality. Give us more freedom to contribute to key institutional wide decisions. #LTHEchat
A4 Sometime I feel they donβt ever talk to each other and so end up giving multiple different but similar instructions. #LTHEchat
Some peers of mine did some CPD for us at BNU. I asked one of our PVCs to write a thank you email. He was more than happy to do as itβd take him 2 mins. Everyone who got it felt truly appreciated and that email will help them in their future applications to fellowship or CMALT etc #LTHEchat
Depends if the person you thank in advance then do what they are suppose to? If not, Iβd email back and demand to have my thank you back! #LTHEchat
A4 We are all a bit overworked & sometimes, we donβt know it all, but thatβs OK, we learn with our students. Also, we use doughnuts & Taylor Swift songs as currencies to exchange time in some parts of BNU. Oops, the secret is out! @katharinehubbard.bsky.social @profdamienpage.bsky.social π¬ #LTHEchat
A3 would it kill you to send a thank you email? Well depends who you ask! π #LTHEchat
ππ» #LTHEchat
A1 oh yeah, there is thatβ¦ this all started with me admitting to you reading policies is one of my favourites pastime! π¬ #LTHEchat
A2 I am a firm believer of paying it forward. We all have a part to play in supporting each other to flourish, of course with a supportive environment, itβs a lot easier. #LTHEchat
A1 sometime the important aka the boring stuff end up being valuable opportunities for future interesting stuff. Like I used to find reading policies boring, but now I love reading them & have opportunities to review & write new policies, letting me to flourish in ways I never imagined. #LTHEchat
A2 depends on what these are and whom for. Conditions for employers to allow staff to flourish, yes. Conditions for staff to flourish might backfire. I have experienced colleagues reacting badly to be given opportunities to flourish, citing itβs stressful but felt obliged to engage. #LTHEchat
A1 Freedom to explore, express, to make mistakes and learn from them. Failure is not branded as an unacceptable affair. Also, be listened to irrespective of backgrounds and walks of life etc. I know these sound basic, but itβs easier said than done. #LTHEchat
Today I have finally grown up. I am not a youngster anymoreβ¦ π
A6 My life is definitely quieter now we donβt work together anymore. Better or worse? We will let the community be the judge! π€£π€£π€£πππ #LTHEchat
Well that sped by! Lots to think about.
Thank you to this eveningβs chat hosted by @puiyin.bsky.social @katharinehubbard.bsky.social Kevin Campbell-Karn @drkck81.bsky.social, David Webster and Paula Han.

Hope to see you next Wednesday at 8pm!
Thank you for having us! @katharinehubbard.bsky.social & Kevin @drkck81.bsky.social are some of the coolest people I have ever worked with! Also excited to know #LTHEchat Jan 2026 will be a BNU month because there will be one more BNU guest host joining last week of Jan! Looking forward to it! βΊοΈ
A6 Listen to the people, if a course has been constantly preforming poorly in particular areas, donβt automatically assume the staff is π©, have open and frank conversations with them to understand why and how we can work together to improve. #LTHEchat
A6 this might get me into trouble as both my bosses are here, but I always get confused between TEF and REFβ¦ π¬#LTHEchat
A6 A more gradual approach! #LTHEchat
Q6. What would a healthier quality assurance culture look like to you?

A5 we ran a workshop today that touched on workload, we said developing good quality content upfront will take time, however, it will be a smarter approach, because once a piece of good quality content is done, it can be reused for a few years and/or across different cohorts/modules. #LTHEchat
A5 more work? Is it Christmas again? π« #LTHEchat
