I made a Substack blog so I could post about things near and dear to me: not just transit and photography, but cats, pizza, music, and maybe the Red Sox, because HOLY SHIT THEY TRADED RAFAEL DEVERS!

While itβs disappointing, and certainly fails to deliver for the GTHA, as someone whoβs been on a few DB trains, I canβt say that Iβm surprised to see that DB failed to deliver.
guess the station: impossible edition
It was one of my favorite things about riding NS in the Netherlands--connections between regional/intercity trains were shown on the screens, so you know how long you'll be on the platform/if you have time to grab a quick coffee/snack in the station.
The screens on the R211 trains on the NYC subway really should show real time arrival/departure times for, at the very least, other subway lines at each station, and at most, commuter/PATH lines at Penn/GCT/125/Jamaica/Woodside/Atlantic/WTC.
MBTA also take note with their new O/G/R trains in MA.
Not my house but I know my way around
One of my favorite views from my (almost) hometown of Boston, straightened for the building, not the train.
Vancouver Skytrain image
Drawing of a skytrain modified to look like a vacuum cleaner sucking up car traffic
Itβs estimated that 1 Skytrain transit line in #MetroVancouver replaces between 20 & 26 lanes of freeway vehicle traffic. And then consider the amount of PARKING it replaces, how much pollution & GHG emissions it replaces, how much public cost it replaces.
Transit makes cities work. #CityMakingMath

It's 2025 and we have R68 trains on the G again. While most of my posts are from photos I've snapped weeks/months/years ago, I snapped and edited these today for immediate posting.

It's been a minute. I wish I was doing something produtive like editing more of my transport photos, but instead I've been working.

Iβm going to miss you. But maybe this is my opportunity to catch up on all your videos. Congratulations on becoming a dad!
I've got my Angel for the top of the Christmas tree.
I survived NYC SantaCon, by being in London that day.
One big MBTA photodump from yesterday. Many of these (but not all) were snapped with my new Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens (highly recommend).
Gross. Any Christmas song that isnβt Jingle Bells that still incorporates the melody of Jingle Bells at the beginning or the end is a trash Christmas song.
Boston today, Logan to Heathrow tomorrow. MIght get a few new MBTA snaps in today.
This one is from March 2023.
If it's Laufey's version of Santa Baby or Christmas Dreaming or Love to Keep Me Warm, I'll let it slide because she's glorious

This is the photo that made me realize, in 2022, that maybe I'm not too bad at this transit photography thing.
