...in general, i compose on either a keyboard or on a guitar, and use the piano roll more as an editing tool than a composition tool. :)

...for guitar processing, i mostly use Neural DSP plugins, in this case the Cory Wong and Tim Henson packs, as well as Parallax for bass processing. For live drums like this i use Steven Slate Drums, with a combination of live drumming thru an electric kit and dropping stuff in piano roll...

...that feels like it matches the source material. once i have a solid sketch of the song i usually will rerecord all the parts for tighter performance, add variations and frills here or there. as far as DAW, i love Ableton Live to death...

thank u ☺️ when emulating someone else's style like this, i start with the sound before composition. trying to match guitar timbre/style within my abilities in this case. then my writing process is just a lot of feeling out, laying out a rhythm and playing over it until i hit on something...
