So great to see Nyadol Nyuon back centre stage!
And speaking (uncomfortable) truths to power for #feminism #IWD

I agree with Virginia, takes guts to read and absorb, then live it.

It's a sign how far the Overton Window has shifted to the right that Alegra Spender,
who might have been Treasurer or Finance Minister in a Liberal govt several decades ago,
is now sounding far more progressive than Labor.

Australians hit by soaring petrol prices now face expected blow of interest rate rise Economists predict RBA board will hike cash rate to 4.1% next week as inflation climbs and energy costs surge

I was actually shocked by how little data the RBA collects on real spending patterns and choices. Their one blunt instrument doesn't even work properly any more, for a host of reasons. Long past due to abolish them & fundamentally rethink monetary policy. #auspol

Being "quietly alarmed" is what the moderate Liberals used to do all the time, right up until they all lost their seats. Grow a spine or don't bother.

I gave you an out:

“Wind-up is one thing (lace hankies for the artillery, anyone?) but being or seeming serious: no.”

You refused to take it. Doubled down.

Seemed to make it more serious.

Not me: you.

I don’t and didn’t want to do that.

Let’s let it slide, ‘eh?

So presumably my great uncle Davey (a cook) who manned a Bren gun at Tubruk (mentioned in dispatches, twice, plus MC) just doesn’t cut it with you. Support, so “not a real soldier”.

Not mustered as infantry, after all.

I’m not buying that.

Nah, not going there.

Wind-up is one thing (lace hankies for the artillery, anyone?) but being or seeming serious: no.

Even just army: infantry, armour, artillery, signals, engineers (the five combat corps) are all front-line and all just as dead if shot.

Other services, and service, too.

I’m ex-RASIGS, mate, if you want to make an issue of it.

I’m not sure why you would. I don’t.

His response was: try being shot down by them twice, then spending the rest of the war in Changi Prison as a POW.

That was carefully left out of the show that went to air.

I might have been a 12yo - but I saw how it was manufactured.

Spud stopped it with his response.

He was pissed off, though.

Sometimes it can be straight personal:

When an old ABC program called ‘Checquerboard’ did a show on our F-111 program, some young ABC journo got stuck into Spud Spurgeon (AOC Amberley at the time) for being racist when she pushed him into admitting he was still uncomfortable around Japanese people.

I still agree with Hans though: what kinds of weirdos don’t or won’t recognise that our Jen is wonderful? 🤔

Pretty-much by definition: they must be dickheads.

And Jen has a strict #nodickheads policy. 👏

In the circumstances, the policy almost executes itself automagically 🤔🤷‍♂️
