In case you missed it, for @theguardian.com I spoke to people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who had a parent who was deported. They talked to me about the impact this trauma had on their families, and other long-term consequences that are still shaping their lives.

“A department head, somebody, made the decision: Screw the citizenry, screw the protocol.”

That's how one commissioner summed up this saga.

Well, now that protocol could change.
