Anti-intellectualism is one of the biggest problems in our society these days.
Part of why Trump lost the 2020 election is because he'd helped kill off so many of his own voters by convincing them not to take covid seriously. The SAVE Act will likewise backfire if it goes through, & Republicans will lose even bigger in the midterms than they already will.
A crazy thing about the SAVE Act situation is that it'll disenfranchise Republicans more than the rest of us. So if it passed, more Democrats would get elected & then be able to get rid of that law. As with Trump's covid denialism, he's hurting his own followers more than anyone else, & so himself.
That's what Kim Thompson told me something like 15 years ago.
I assume Dark Horse has been able to get the lesser known Moebius stuff at a lower price than, say, Airtight Garage or Arzach.

No, do NOT pay attention to that - let him surprise you! No need to give everyone a spoiler, it's such a delightfully fun bit of showmanship.
This was especially true within the Hollywood studio system, where sometimes a director could be replaced partway through the shoot and the movie could still turn out good, or even a popular hit or classic like Gone With the Wind or The Wizard of Oz.
I think Welles is saying movie directing can be a somewhat superfluous job, in that a movie can turn out great with a great script, a great cast, a great cinematographer, a great editor, and a mediocre director who doesn't get in the way of anyone else doing their great work.

I hope Hollywood learns the right lesson from the success of movies like Sinners - audiences want big swings and original material, not just endless IP slop.
And I respect that some studios are still making films like these, though many studios are run by dumb businessmen from outside show business.
I can't tell you how refreshing it is to have a senator who speaks plainly about the Trump administration, using words like "fascist" and (as heard here) "stupid." I'm glad to have Chris Van Hollen representing me. I wish someone like him or Murphy was the Democratic leader in the Senate.

The Assistant was great, and it was notable for me as the last movie I saw on the big screen before movie theaters shut down due to the pandemic.
I appreciated that they didn't give the Weinstein figure screentime, instead centering the Garner character. And Garner was perfect.
It's a crime that Wood's original Swamp Thing colors (as seen here) have never been available in collections. The earliest trades come closest but are still not accurate (and they drop things, like the caption text seen at the top left of the Swamp Thing page here). Bissette has written about this.
