This Is Going to Hurt (Your Faith in Justice)
Let’s face it: there are a few things they don’t teach you at medical school. One of them is what to do when the NHS decides you are the problem in a whistleblowing case.

Wes, it's not rocket science just don't pay a doctor £17.60 an hour when they are in £100k worth of student debt.
If you a member of the public that thinks that's acceptable go ring a plumber and offer them double that an hour and see if you get your leak fixed.

If you’ve ever wondered about NHS information governance and employment tribunals, do read this by @tommygreene.bsky.social on the case of Dr Chris Day. Multiple disclosure failings, the attempted destruction of 94,000 emails. Yet still the judge found for the employer.

Good news from the EAT yesterday. I now have 3 separate appeals (10 grounds in total) ordered for a main appeal hearing. The latest is wasted costs against the NHS law firm Hill Dickinson. Here is the update on how they argued doctors out of whistleblowing protection

So this is my "I am a doctor we need to change UK whistleblowing law speech" that I shared in Parliament a couple of months ago
After 10 years of whistleblowing litigation, I think it is fair to say that I have a few examples of where things go wrong and the cost to the public

This battle for justice and integrity in public service is crucially important; well done Chris Day - please keep going. Much is at stake for all who depend on our NHS and the courts, tribunals, openness and justice in the UK.

So I went on the 1984 Podcast to explain the 10 year jungle that is my NHS whistleblowing case and what is shows/means to the state or our NHS and legal system.

Stand Up for Integrity in the NHS and Protection for Whistleblowers
My name is Maxwell Mclean, former Chair of the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust).
If this case was not important enough already!
NHS is using public money to argue the chairs of all NHS Trust boards all over England out of legal whistleblowing protection
Just to stop this whistleblowing case being heard

How is it even possible for a bunch of lawyers to make a load of public money breaking whistleblowing law for the nation's doctors?
I am not the only one asking this question. Last weekend, I clicked launch on my latest Crowdjustice campaign.
How is it even possible for a bunch of lawyers to make a load of public money breaking whistleblowing law for the nation's doctors?
My 6 answers are explained on the below link but here is number six.
6. It happened because people let it happen

UK whistleblowing law only protects people from their employer. Guess what they blew £500k doing to all doctors to stop my whistleblowing case being heard??

For decades, the NHS has been allowed to ignore, discredit and then fight anyone of its staff or leaders that tells it something it doesn’t want to hear.
A whole service industry as built up to help the NHS with this.
Help me challenge it

Don't you just love the NHS.
Literally paying public money to private companies to do the dirty work of giving NHS staff a pay cut.
Well done @TheBMA for challenging this

Eilidh your words really resonate with me and perhaps other doctors that have attempted to fight for the profession over the years
Ultimately the public need to decide how much they value their access to a fully trained doctor free to speak & act in their interests

The Gov’ts response to this important question from Adrian Ramsay MP was due 3 days ago. It’s a simple “YES” or “NO”
Is the gov’t using taxpayers money to pay GMC’s legal costs in defending an action brought by @anaesunited.bsky.social to protect patient safety in the regulation of PA’s & AA’s?

No, it's not some weird US version of April Fool's day - this is actually true.
Every time this side of the Atlantic we think US healthcare can't get more cruel and absurd it pulls one like this out of the bag

In other news the OBR report the Gov’t keeps quoting from says Brexit is on course to cut UK trade by a staggering 15% - for some reason this part of the report never gets mentioned

It seems to me that the NHS and wider legal and regulatory systems need to be dragged kicking and screaming just to acknowledge when anything goes wrong or is covered up in the NHS or they just ignore it.
Why will this new provision be any different?

In the light of the new government announcement of a national review of Physician Associate roles and scope of practice, I repost our Statement of Concern (March 24) on how the Royal College of Physicians of London had dealt with the matter. At the time we were described as a "social media rabble".
