Watching live weather coverage by David Payne and Lacey Swope on News9 in Oklahoma City. I'm sure it requires a lot of effort and coordination but their weather team comes off as very cohesive and well-coordinated. I've had it on as background noise for hours tonight. Hope everyone stays safe. #OKC

Chuckling to myself & wondering if I should delete this before 2/3 of my family tree, who live in Texas, reads this & assumes that Talarico himself feels this way.
I hope people who call themselves Democrats but donβt have empathy for Black voters stay as far away from them as possible until 2027.
And there it is. Condescension to Black voters. Taking them for granted. Telling them what they must do. This is not appreciably different in tone from what youβd expect from MAGA supporters. Very disrespectful.
I hope and trust that @jamestalarico.bsky.social is smarter than this.
If youβre tired of losing, donβt say and do dumb and condescending things to constituencies from neglected communitiesβand if you canβt manage to do that, yes, you will lose elections and deserve to. A good leader and a smart campaign will understand this.
Yes! You can say the same thing! And should. This is how elections workβevery vote is earned! Nothing is owed or given.
One lesson of the Harris campaign was that proceeding ignorantly with voters whose support is critical to winning a campaign where the stakes are incredibly high is very bad politics. You donβt order voters around like they owe you something. You campaign to deserve their votes.
Youβre framing the problem in a very condescending way that misses the point. Telling Black voters what they βhave to doβ instead of earning their support would be a great way to lose by 10 points.
Talarico needs to earn her trust. Patching things up with Colin Allred would be a good move, too. Black Texans just experienced a night where many of them were perhaps disenfranchised in Dallas County. Dictating to Crockett instead of humbly earning it would be political malpractice with her voters.
What kind of society promotes and enables the ability to bet on whether those in power will kill hundreds of thousands of people? And how sociopathic do you have to be as corporate leaders and government officials to permit this?
This a screencap of a Texas Tribune map showing the voting results in the U.S. Senate primary in Texas, as of about 1 a.m. Central on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The map shows U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico leading Rep. Jasmine Crockett 53% to 46% with 80% of the votes counted, but with Crockett leading in many counties with relatively large Black populations.
If James Talarico is the winner of the Texas primary for U.S. Senate, I hope he looks at this map and understands that he will not beat John Cornyn or Ken Paxton if he does not actively appeal to Black voters. He must not only listen to Black Texans. He must hear them. And he can't be defensive.

"Oceania was at war with Eurasia; therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia."
See, the thing is we havenβt beenβnot because past presidents were perfect angels or thrilled with Iran, but because they didnβt want to close the Strait of Hormuz, evacuate American civilians from the whole region, and set the world economy on fire.

Wondering if a regional war that is clearly illegal and might become a global war will be enough to convince people who "don't want to be political" that they should probably should.
Do you accept the government doing this in your name? And does this enhance our freedom as Americans? #Iran
Even George W. Bush had congressional authorization he could point to in his wars against Afghanistan and Iraq. Trump has nothing and has made no attempt to persuade the public that war against Iran is in anyone's interests but his. But congressional Republicans will rally βround the MAGA flag.
Don't worry guys, the last time America tried to install a leader in Iran it went great.

Weather analysis is apparently in the eye of the beholder given how many people praise the GFS for this past storm performance. It was only 35 inches off here from a few days out.
