Never understood the connotation behind this either. I prefer "yank" if anything, but "USian" seems to me an entirely acceptable alternative to "American" when I'm running out of characters in a tweet.

This place seems a lot chiller right now too. A few awful politics poasters have made their way here, but I can deal with the occasional psycho long as they don't get to pay $8/month to have their bullshit boosted. I used to get at least a few interactions on my posts—I'd be lucky now if I got any.
I belong to the left, and I sympathise with its causes—but too many leftists fall into the trap of over-romanticising history, and I rather scorn that tendency as well, on top of glossing over or even justifying its more atrocious parts. Maintain this dishonesty, and you're doomed to irrelevance.
