What I learned, living 32 blocks from Ground Zero, is that those who are still alive after a disaster keep living, trauma and all. Screw the regime. People volunteered to dig. Rode their trucks all night from Texas and elsewhere. I cry when I think of how many helped.
The smoke clears for whole weeks. We felt wonderful when Nixon resigned, and his assistants went to jail and NO ONE thought of pardoning them. But evil watched, learned, and made sure there would be no justice next time. We have to prove them wrong. (I don't forgive Gerry Ford for pardoning Nixon.)
