And a warning to my fellow leftists who believe demonizing conservatives will create change. It doesn’t. It only makes you equally blinded.

Basic human rights should be a given. Despite their inherent privileges or lack thereof.

I say all this as a warning. To those conservatives. You voted for a n-tzi. But that doesn’t mean you also have to be a n-tzi. Admitting that you were wrong does not mean you are a bad person. But doubling down does mean you’re on the wrong side of history.

Working class conservatives are people who have not been radicalized by having a body that is actively oppressed.

But they will be victims too. When the oligarchs starve us for their own gain. When the environment is in flames, they will burn too. Cursing bc they thought they were the exception.

That experience of broken barriers softened me to understand that not all people who voted for trump are my enemy. Some are comrades who have not been touched by oppression yet.

When the world was ending, it was the rednecks in trucks bringing the chain saws. It was the queer DJs bringing in a hundred thousand dollars in funds for survival. It was the leftists AND the churches on the ground doing mutual aid.

One thing losing my home in Helene taught me is that you need your neighbors and your neighbors need you.
