The Old John Hancock Building viewed from the commuter rail
Steady red, rain ahead
…according to the Old John Hancock Building
“Steady blue, clear view;
Flashing blue, clouds due;
Steady red, rain ahead;
Flashing red, snow instead”

It’s really amazing how the components are so delicate. Some of the screws are just over a millimeter. It helps give you an appreciation for the skilled work that people do to assemble these.
And thanks also to @ifixit.com for their detailed repair guides, tools, accessories and parts.

On the left a disassembled laptop computer. On the right a laptop display. In the middle an assortment of fine screwdriver tips, tweezers, a spudger and an assortment of small screws and brackets.
*Dr Frankenstein voice* IT’S ALIVE!!!
I successfully transplanted a display from one broken laptop to another, turning two broken Macs into one broken one and surprisingly enough, one good one.

But now I’m on the return train now and they have the AC on so I have to put my jacket back on.

A pink folded Brompton bicycle sits on the ground in front of an MBTA commuter rail car.
With such beautiful weather after such a long, snowy winter, I was tempted to ride right by the plant this morning and enjoy the day

Disappointing news - the Ig Nobel prize ceremony is moving from greater Boston to Zurich.
"Four of the 10 winners last year chose not to travel to Boston for the ceremony."
"There are no immediate plans to return the ceremony to the US."

Gonna be asking our data people if we have good ways to track any uptick in transit ridership in the coming weeks...

I was surprised and saddened to hear this news - Gerry and the Washington Square Tavern supported local mtn biking and gravel cycling and served as home base to the Ronde de Rosey mixed-terrain bike ride series a number of years ago.
Rest in peace, Gerry

"They're like mini motorbikes," adds Debbie, who is absolutely correct because these are motorbikes moreso than fatbikes

Also, depending on the bus and time it may be difficult to fit a folded bike inside at rush hour. Though I have seen people bring their 2-wheel shopping carts, wagons and carriages on buses, so whatever

I don’t really trust scooters because of their small wheels and short wheelbase. If I had money I’d get the top-line Brompton, but of course those are even less affordable.

I got a Brompton secondhand for a nice price, but I wouldn’t call it lightweight. Before that I had a Dahon which was more affordable but not very lightweight either, and not as clever and compact a design as the Brompton.

Microsoft Windows system battery power levels showing power dropping to zero after I left work
Me (alarmed): Why is my bag so hot?
Microsoft decided that it would be a good time to install a system update while my computer was 'sleeping' and enclosed in a sleeve with no ventilation.
Now checking for corrupted files from when the computer ran out of power and died.

A roughly seven foot tall snow tower stands in front of the Walter Baker Chocolate Factory office building in Boston
Spiral stairs lead to the top of the snow tower. Brick mill buildings stand in the background.
Looking south past the snow tower toward Adams Street and Milton Hill
The view from the top of the snow tower showing stairs and Dorchester Lower Mills
I wondered, as I climbed the icy steps of this snow sculpture lookout tower in Dorchester Lower Mills, who built it and why? Was it for birdwatching? To keep an eye on all those commuters invading the city across the Neponset River?

Spice jars on a supermarket / bodega shelf. Two read: Caribbean Traditions cock flavored seasoning, above a picture of chicken and a cartoon caricature of a rooster.
Sometimes you’re walking through the supermarket and you stop and do a double-take
