one thing I respect about medieval beekeepers is their total commitment to looking like Doctor Who villains
Teachers told us it is commonplace for them to work evenings (62), weekends (55%), and a third of respondents frequently cancel plans with family and friends in order to get on top of their workload (36%). #NEU2025

Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" has perhaps the most memorable opening line in all of Western literature: "I hope you motherfuckers like reading about whales"
This shit doesn’t happen in France and I’ll tell you why: the rich went too far once and they cut all their heads off and now, when those in power fuck workers over, the French stop working. Don’t forget your real power Americans. They don’t let you have unions for a reason.
If your argument is "sure, a terrible modern event has a parallel in the 1920s and 30s but don't worry we turned out just fine", might I suggest reading about the 1940s.
What if history just didn't repeat itself, for once?
Word of the Day is ‘bayard’ (16th century): one who has the supreme self-confidence of ignorance.

Late last night, Trump fired the independent inspectors general of at least 12 major federal agencies.
Inspectors general are tasked with rooting out fraud, abuse, and corruption.

Recently, I’ve had a number of students ask me “Miss, don’t you think it’s wild that in 100 years or something they’ll be teaching about Covid in History lessons?!”
Me: “I teach ‘Migration & Empires’ at GCSE and we’re already teaching about Brexit, so I don’t think it will take that long!”

On the other hand, sometimes the ‘live-action’ remakes introduce changes that I’ve loved! Whilst I didn’t really enjoy ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (2017) overall, I actually really liked the change in Maurice/Belle’s dad from being a childish crack-pot to a sensitive clock maker. It made more sense to me
This trend we are currently experiencing of every animated film being reproduced in ‘live-action’ has always been deeply unsettling to me & signals a real problem in the industry. Mostly, I’m just sad because I love animation & it feels like animated features are being redefined as ‘not real films’
