A male bluebird sits in the center of frame upon a crooked diagonal branch of an old crabapple tree (you can see a few still-red crabapples dangling in the background, like weird little Christmas ornaments). The bluebird is sitting forward, facing right, with its orange breast all puffed out, and its impossibly blue head and back bold against the mushy brown-gray late winter background. The bluebird is a creature of happiness and hope, brought back from the brink of extinction and so we take lessons from the bluebird -- and from our efforts to save it -- on this day. But it's also worth noting that right now THIS bluebird is watching another pair of bluebirds try to lay claim to a nesting box, and the thoughts going through his head are probably "oh fuck you, that's mine," as they keep fighting over that space, like cranky renters. Lately I have been obsessed with capturing the moment the sun is just rising above the horizon of the ocean

Things I never tire of: looking at the sea and the sky. They both change from one minute to the next and are always beautiful in different ways.
