the traditional methods we have to reach players are falling apart and i worry that a *lot* of people just don't hear about anything their preferred app's algo doesn't decide to show them. when even something like scott pilgrim EX gets talked about like this it feels grim for the rest of us

it does drive me a little crazy that an indie game from an established, well liked studio can get good press coverage and also literally get revealed at a big event like summer game fest and people will still be like "wow i didn't even know this existed. you guys didn't advertise this enough"

there's something really funny to me about the OPLA cast being mostly unknowns or lesser known character actors who were just the right people for the job and then dr. kureha waltzes in and it's leela from futurama

also the supposed thematic throughline about cults/conspiracy theories/etc. just doesn't really stand out and when you do see it it mostly feels like "damon was spending too much time in LA and on social media." traveling to india fixed him lol

i liked cracker island at the time, but listening to it front to back now that the mountain is out is making me realize why people hate it lol. i still find it pleasant enough with some good tracks, but it's so... damon trying to do a safe synth pop album that would get radio play

A lot of this shit is so weird because you have some understandable ones like not being allowed to post deepfakes but then you get hit by "you're not allowed to draw your character smoking weed" and "if you draw your OC drinking alcohol, you're getting instabanned"

I just wish I could have been there with you.

It's been an honor voicing Mega Man in Mega Man 11, the best-selling game in the series' history and watching Mega Man reclaim his rightful place as a gaming icon.

I truly wish Capcom was at least willing to speak with SAG-AFTRA about doing this game union.

I expressed that I'd even be willing to work on a LOWER-budget union contract if it meant this flipped.

It genuinely wasn't about the money for me.

(Also, as an aside, I don't think it makes sense to strike for over 11 months to get enforceable AI abuse protections and then turn right around and go back to work without them.)

The video game industry is facing record layoffs and huge amounts of uncertainty.

I need a union contract to feel safe.

In my heart, I want to believe Capcom would never use AI...

But in my HEAD, I'm aware that basically every major corporation is looking to incorporate generative AI to save money.

The only way to enforce non-union contracts like this involves personally taking giant companies like Capcom to court and suing if I thought they'd used AI. I don't have the mental, emotional, or monetary strength to survive a protracted legal fight.
