I meant to message you when I saw this! @alexjquigley.bsky.social piece is excellent, and @jonsevers.bsky.social was very kind to let us share it for free with Teacher Tappers 🥰🥰

I was the person who encouraged them to ask primary teachers about this and did some work on the questions with the amazing @heymrshallahan.bsky.social who was able to make sense of my vague ideas!

Survey of teachers and accents EMC's Dan Clayton explores the implications of a survey looking at teachers and accents

I’ve written a long blog here that comes out of various things that I’ve worked on with other people this term. It’s about accents... again! Sorry, not sorry.

I think I did ask this recently! I remember because the term “soft start” was discussed in great detail at Tapp towers 😝 I’ll look it up for you 🙌

I’ve actually just looked at the over time - and both look like they’re rising. I’ll share in the blog after half term 🙌

For the first time in our research, a majority of teachers are using AI in their work - 58% say they’ve used an AI tool to help with school tasks (up from 31% last year).

Those who’ve never used AI? Just 11% - more than halved from 31% in 2023 🤖

Every year our pupils deliver #PoetryPost to the local community and every year they're absolutely thrilled with the positive response it receives. There's more information about how it works on the @openuni-rfp.bsky.social site. ourfp.org/eop/poetry-p...

Always!!

Now you can probably guess the answer 😝

That mean a form/class miss out because a child in the class struggles to attend are also not great. How does it feel to be that kid who wants to come but can’t - and the whole class resents you.

If you genuinely don’t know who did it, then it makes sense. But deliberately punishing the whole class for the actions of an individual/group isn’t what I’d recommend. However, I see it suggested a lot in primary FB groups - especially for younger children.

But I also think attendance rewards…

Ohh big difference for primary vs secondary here!

Are there any primary teachers on here who aren’t keen on whole class punishments?

Somebody reminded me of rich tea FINGERS this weekend 😍😍 my mission is to find some - haven’t had one for years!

27.09.2025 07:49 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

I like them! But I wouldn’t bring them as a guest. Especially if I wanted to impress them 😝

But here is a question - why haven’t they done chocolate rich teas??

25.09.2025 19:31 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

It’s like one of those logic problems!

I went for:
Chocolate digestives
Custard creams
Foxes golden crunch

I must admit, I picked up the foxes thinking they were ginger crunches - but I’d spent so long dithering that I had to just go with it 😬

Trouble, or delightful second benefit??

25.09.2025 05:45 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

I considered rich tea! But (rightly or wrongly) worried they would look a bit like I was scrimping, or that they were a bit severe?! I think I associate them with church 😳 so went for those biscuit crunch ones instead.

One out of three!

Custard creams are my favourite. And feel small so eating three counts as one.

25.09.2025 05:43 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

They’re so good too!!

“The masses” 😝

Literally my thought process 😬 you and I obviously know dark chocolate is superior - however, we need to keep the majority happy.

25.09.2025 05:41 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

One right, one half right!

The teacher who I was meeting also guessed bourbons 😝

The great think about bourbons is their resilience to dunking 😍

24.09.2025 12:49 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

I’m off to visit a primary school and have picked three packets of biscuits that I felt would most ingratiate me with the teachers there.

What three did I choose?

(Extra information it was a standard co op - no fancy biscuit options but all your usual suspects)

Dixons’ nine-day fortnight: how’s it working a year on? Since launching its ground-breaking nine-day fortnight a year ago, Dixons Academies Trust says it has seen a drop in staff turnover and sickness absence. Ellen Peirson-Hagger asks about the challenges...

When Dixons Academies Trust launched its 9-day fortnight for teachers, there was a fair bit of cynicism about whether it would actually be possible.

12 months on, @ellencph.bsky.social talks to the trust to find out what has happened since - and the impact it has had

The expectation is already there to respond to parent contact quickly - look at these results - 48hr turnaround 😳

Communication between home and school is so hard. What suits one parent won’t suit another. I’m v interested to see what goes into the gov recommendations.
