This looks like interesting and important work.
Building a culture of community and belonging for children in our schools is vital, especially for more vulnerable pupils.

My eldest is in year 6 and had an open evening tonight. I couldnβt go so her dad took her. When I picked them up, all they could talk about was the jerk chicken and Bombay potatoes they had eaten as sample school dinners πππππ

Meanwhile Kemi Badenoch has said she was brought up middle-class but became working-class when she worked in McDonald's π³
Opposite for me, we were working-class in Middlesbrough until me Mam bought us a Viennetta one day, straight to middle-class π
We are looking for a head of DT/Food to help us review our curriculum and support our new subject leader. We are about 30 minutes from London. We will pay for your time.

I did a thing! We wanted our international
pupils to have a celebration for mid autumn festival - so we decorated their common room in secret and we all had mooncakes, and looked for the jade rabbit on the moon!

A picture of Adam, his Uncle David and Dad all sporting afros. There is also a cartoon picture of a child with an Afro comb that reads βHappy World Afro Dayβ
Today is #WorldAfroDay so here are a few of the Vasco family afros over the years.
My personal hair journey is symbolic of my own journey towards being anti-racist and coming face to face with my internalised racism.
But for now just enjoy my Dadβs and Uncle Davidβs afros because they are π₯
What a weird non-story. Even in our very progressive school, students are not allowed to have mobile phones out during the school day. www.bbc.com/news/article...
One of @thosethatcan.bsky.socialβs practical tips for managing your own wellbeing is put something in your diary to look forward to β big or small. Always have something there.
Well, Trevor Noah, you are in my diary πππ½ποΈ
Thatβs a top tip and a great diary entry! Enjoy
Agree βduring the school dayβ is key here isnβt it. Especially as some of these schools are in rural (ish) locations where pupils rely on (sometimes problematic) public transport. Total non story!
The parallels
1. Marginalise a group of people
2. Tell incendiary lies and double down when challenged.
3. Provoke / encourage people to act
4. Deny any responsibility for anything which follows
Straight from 1930s Germany playbook
A year's worth of picturebook assembly suggestions that have a focus on diversity, equality, inclusion and empathy. Hopefully it's of use, even to just dip into occasionally. The link is here: padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...
Will antiracist (re)awakening wither in the wake of a war on woke?
Hereβs a pre-recording of the second presentation I delivered at British Educational Research conference as part of a race & education symposium with brilliant colleagues SaffronPowell & Rachel Robinson.

That is petrifying π±
80s humanoid robot Metal Mickey
Did that feature The Vortexβ¦.if so it scarred me for life. @drpam.bsky.social I thought at first youβd posted Metal Mickey
My book is not marketed (could just stop there) as an βinclusiveβ book, but it was written very much with the intention to include people who are otherwise excluded from science because I *get* why some are excluded from *cultural* activities like science www.amazon.co.uk/Why-Dont-Thi...
Has anyone seen a geography/ English display of books with links to different parts of the world? Going to make one if I canβt find one but hoping to save some time. #EduSky #PrimaryEnglish #PrimaryGeography #KidLit
The photo is the dog who convinced me to give it a try; with my youngest, who will need no convincing. We met him last week paddle boarding and I think he may be the perfect pet but sadly lives miles away from us
They say never meet your heroes but it looks like she proved the saying wrong. You both look amazing π€©
Well thatβs incredibly unhelpful and frustrating. Hope you get it sorted
This is so cute πππ
I use alt text because when I got here someone asked
