We love the rain!
A little bit of water doesn't stop us from getting out there to knock doors, hear what's on people's minds, and share our vision of hope and transformative change for #memphis and Shelby County!
@teamlpac.bsky.social , @changetn.bsky.social , and @transequality.bsky.social support me as I work to build a better #Memphis for everyone.

The best solution, of course, is universal housing and basic income, but sadly we're not quite there yet in terms of funding.
That doesn't mean I won't advocate for it, though! And in the interim, I can fight for more transparent, accountable, and fair systems in government.
...and getting back into housing can be surprisingly difficult as a fixed address is needed for many job applications and services. No one should have to experience that agony, and certainly not due to process issues that can and should be addressed.
And in this particular case, I'd like to create a housing support fund to help keep people running into issues with MHA housed, and to act as their advocates. When a person loses their home, it devastates their life and the lives of their children...
I have a background in technology and designing and building complex systems that handle the data of millions of people in a safe and automated way -- without relying on hallucinating generative AI. I'll bring that expertise to government when elected to the county commission.
This awful story is indicative of the consistent problems we have with government services and why "more of the same" isn't what we need in Shelby County. While the MHA isn't under county authority (it's funded by HUD at the federal level), the issues here aren't uncommon.
I speak truth to power and I stand up to billionaire robber barons and their cronies in government -- because that's how we create a equitable #Memphis.
That's why @teamlpac.bsky.social , @changetn.bsky.social , and @transequality.bsky.social support me.

When I'm elected to the county commission, we're going to put an end to this. I won't be chasing xAI's dirty money that will disappear the moment the AI bubble pops, and I certainly won't be letting Elon Musk tell us what our schools need.
Even the people who support Elon Musk's CSAM creating, lying parrot don't want to live anywhere near it. But it's okay for Black folks and working class folks, right? They can deal with the fumes and the turbine drone? ๐คข
And this is a problem because...?
Seriously, don't threaten me with a good time
Our government should represent us -- all of us. I'm running to ensure everyone is heard and everyone feels safe and respected.
That's why @teamlpac.bsky.social , @changetn.bsky.social , and @transequality.bsky.social support me.

I'm so blessed to have an amazing crew who believe that we can win more, that we can turn this around, that #Memphis Is Magnificent!
When elected to the County Commission, I'll be your voice and your fighter, standing up for what's right and against robber barons and corruption.
That should read "2x" increase. The $0.67 fuel cost adjustment is 52% of the final price per ccf, which means it doubles the price.
This is just one innovative solution I have -- a homegrown, equitable solution not relying on billionaires -- for a big Shelby County problem. Ideas like these are why I've been endorsed by @teamlpac.bsky.social and @changetn.bsky.social .
A $13 donation can make these ideas reality!
If xAI is going to run gas turbines in our county, and if other large fixed polluters such as Valero are going to pump out the greenhouse gases that lead to these financial disasters, they can pay their fair share so we can use to bring your costs down.
I envision a plan where the county creates an extreme weather fund that pays MLGW at wholesale prices (i.e., offsetting their cost) in the event of extreme weather to lower that fuel cost adjustment and reduce bills. We can fuel this with a tax surcharge on polluters such as xAI.
What matters *now* is that as extreme weather increases, our citizens can't be crushed by utility rates. "Use less" isn't a viable option when it's below freezing for several days in houses not built for that weather.
The county can play a role here in helping out!
This is due to increased usage and a 52% increase in gas price from the allowed fuel cost adjustment.
Regulation of MLGW is a city matter, despite the fact that MLGW serves most Shelby County residents. Whether it should be a joint venture is a broader question.
My mother just received a $704 MLGW bill (MLGW is the #Memphis municipal utility provider.)
That's about a 400% increase over her usual bill and even in the coldest months, about a 250% increase.
She's on Social Security and has a fixed income. How is she supposed to afford this?

I don't take money from corporate or dark money PACs. And I don't take money from billionaires or donors to Marsha Blackburn.
If you want a real progressive fighter in office in #Memphis, endorsed by @teamlpac.bsky.social and @changetn.bsky.social -- please donate today. Even $13 helps!
We've got almost 100 donors from across the country putting in donations in my county commission race. This level of support in a municipal race in TN is pretty rare -- and I'd love to prove the haters wrong by making that number bigger.
My opposition has dark money PACs. I have all of you!
This is a really good point.
Health care is a perfect example of a place where the Free Market doesn't work. It violates basically all key assumptions of perfect competition, which means the market will fail. One of the biggest ones it violates is a technical one, which is around maximizing utility
So much for local control and home rule -- not that Sen. Johnson was a believer in that anyway.
