Peter "Bingo" Kensey, The bass player is named after "Old man Kensey" and "Bingo Handjob" and named Peter after The adventures of Pete and Pete which Michael Stipe starred in an episode of.

Montanna "Monty" Pierson, the drummer is named after the song "Monty got a raw deal" and her last name is named after Kate Pierson of the B-52s who lent her voice to the song "Shiny Happy People"

Peter Michael Heron, the singer has the middle Name Michael in reference to Michael Stipe. His last name is in reference to Disturbance at the Heron House.

He's in a cover band called Automatic for the people Which is also the name of one of their albums. Even his band mates have a dash of REM nods as well

Ye so the reason He's a bear character stemmed from the REM album Monster His middle name Kenneth, came from the song "What's the frequency Kenneth" which was on said album
