1/ Today, the Carney government joined the Conservatives and the Bloc to defeat @jennykwan.bsky.social's No More Loopholes Bill β legislation that would have stopped Canadian weapons sent to the U.S. from being used to fuel the genocide in Gaza.

I'm having one of those days where I am frustrated because for most of the major political questions the issue is not that we don't have answers, the issue is that people with money and power simply ignore the answers because they don't like them
Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now
A true statesman! He brings honour to the office.
I was hugely impressed by this passionate speaker at City Hall yesterday. I went so far as to extract a chunk of audio and embed it here for easy access.
Itβs serious, troubling issue, and Iβm so happy our city has courageous leaders like this.

That last point is important though. And he does seem to be needlessly alienating left leaning voters. The perception, right or wrong, is that he is drifting Right. If he continues on his current path, nothing is βon lockβ and heβll give opportunities for the Opposition parties.
I think this is about the temperature but honestly it works for decades as well
Hopefully that's true but I'd hate to see people get complacent and think it's a done deal. There's still a lot of time until the next election and lots can happen. One year ago, the Liberals were mired deep in the polls, and everyone said they were dead. Then things changed.
Cβmon, thatβs a London tube station, not a ballplayer.
What I picture it's like for a woman going on a first date in 2026
Always good for a smile @troyhawke.bsky.social

Has Pete Docter never seen a Pixar movie? Toy Story, Inside Out, Finding Nemoβtheyβre all one long therapy session.
If Carney gave a shit about protecting children or any other Canadians from online harms, he'd start by banning X for creating and distributing CSAM and non-consensual porn.
But he won't even stop posting there.
1/ PM Carney: you can and must categorically rule out participation in this illegal war.
Your unqualified support of Trump and Netanyahuβs war was bad enough. Itβs unconscionable that youβre now considering putting Canadian forces in harmβs way.
never, ever, ever, ever accept "how will you pay for it?" as an argument against social programs.
you can get it from @lpl.ca
First choice is @votetanille.bsky.social because she seems sincere and ethical. 2nd choice is Lewis who is saying the right stuff and Iβm hopeful but worry itβs performative. The others seem like status quo or deeper irrelevance.
cramming for this eye exam looking at every fucking thing I can
Sure, for now. But things change. Trudeau in 2015, Layton in 2011. People shouldnβt assume things will stay the same. Parties and candidates still need to do the work. Overconfidence may lead to disappointment
Look how quickly this changed just last year. I wouldnβt assume anything.
I would totally check out a band called Ghost Galaxy
I didnβt realize this term was anything other than a way to save a few characters when posting. Like Cdns or Brits.
Even with all the questions this India trip brings up, there might be a few more questions about actively supporting an illegal war against Iran.
Trumpβs attack on Iran violates UN rules Canada has agreed to uphold. It contradicts numerous values PM Carney claimed he supported in Davos. Endorsing illegality, violence, & destruction over dialogue and peaceful resolution is not what Canadians were promised, or support.
My thoughts are with Iranian Canadians and Canadians in the region who fear for their safety and the safety of their loved ones.
PM Carney offering his support to Trump in his actions against Iran is not representative of Canadaβs culture of humanitarianism and respect for international law.
2/ The United States and Israel have launched an illegal act of war while Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu speak openly of regime change. This is what Prime Minister Mark Carney says he supports.
If nothing else, the misspelling of βCanadaβ should give a hint
My heart is also with Iranian Canadians and everyone terrified for the safety of their family and friends in the region.
Canada must unequivocally condemn these grave breaches of international law.
4/4
So the war that does not have congressional approval, already has Canadian approval? Are we just going to knock over liquor stores with Trump next?
