Christians aren't intrinsically good people. Their belief doesn't make them good just because they say so. People of any faith can be hypocritical in their beliefs, especially when the belief system itself is morally contradictory all the time.

Pointing it out the hypocrisy isn't pointless, it's just irrelevant to the specific point I'm making -- their hypocrisy has always been there, it's a non-starter.

Irrelevant. This is how Christians have come to be and to behave, whether or not Jesus existed or whether he'd hypothetically approve of them or not. The reality is that Christians have a dangerous influence on geopolitics, with motivations borne from misinterpreting their own religious texts.

I don't think you realize that so much of Israel's power on the world-stage comes from Christian zionists here and in Europe.

Look at Theodor Herzl, the father of political Zionism, who was mentored by an apocalypse-obsessed English Christian clergyman, William Hechler. The rest is history.

Like, the U.S. could turn Israel into a smear on the map if they really wanted to-- Netanyahu must to appeal to them in order to keep his immunity and wield his power in an increasingly volatile region, and he knows precisely how to do that by fueling the 'promised land' rhetoric they love to hear.

They don't have to-- they can satiate their religious interest in Israel right here by approving massive funding bills and propagandizing about Israel's "right to defend itself."

He knows how to rhetorically appeal to Christian fundamentalists and their obsession with Israel, which gives him an even broader sense of immunity for said crimes. It's not overcomplicating anything -- it's simply what he's been doing for a long time.

I know our beliefs may differ (I'm not of the faith) but I find the apocalyptic imagery of Revelation far more interesting as being of a literary tradition of a specific culture rather than a Doomsday prophecy to be decoded.

I'm all for progressive christians rebelling against conservatism, etc-- but the ones that believe this kind of shit aren't "fake christians."

Christians can be, and are all too often, very bad people. Doesn't make them not christian-- they have justified their own behavior for centuries.
