Wigeons are vocal ducks often seen in large flocks over winter. They gather on estuaries, stretches of coastline and in other wetland habitats. Listen out for their squealing call, which can be heard repeatedly when a flock is nearby.

Folding up to 92x65mm the Explorer Compact binoculars are small enough to be carried in the palm of your hand or hung from the wrist strap supplied.

Available in 8x21 and 10x21, these mini compacts produce clean crisp images with good levels of brightness and comfort 🌈

Unique in that they’re the world’s only aquatic passerine, Dippers are a common sight along fast-flowing rivers.

They're fascinating to watch as they forage in strong undercurrents despite their small size, emerging onto rocks clutching insects or clumps of moss to line their nests πŸͺΉ

It may still be winter but we think seabirds deserve our appreciation all year!

In just a couple of months, species such as Puffins, Gannets, Common Terns and Fulmars will make their way back to the UK's coastal habitats to raise the next generation of seabirds.

Today is known as 'Blue Monday' but we're opting for the positive take on the term by celebrating all things blue in the natural world 🌎

From the powdery blue wings of the Common Blue to the Barn Swallow's shimmering Sapphire feathers, the colour is everywhere and it's anything but depressingπŸ’™

Instantly recognisable, Orcas are the largest members of the dolphin family. They can appear off British coasts a few times each year – the huge dorsal fins of the males, sometimes reaching heights of up to six feet, are usually the first sign they’re around.

The Whooper Swan is mainly a winter visitor to Britain. Males often bob their heads to communicate with other swans, including strengthening their lifelong pair bonds.
