#16 - Slanted

Saw as a Screen Unseen (I did not know what it was until it started). This one wasn’t on my radar at all but I really enjoyed it.

Essentially a satire about assimilation and whiteness. Think The Substance for being white.

It actually still worked, i just had to put more together on my own. i did wind up going immediately to another screening to watch that first 10 minutes, though, and it definitely filled in some gaps (including a fairly large and important conceit of the film that had confused me a bit).

a fun thing i did by accident: i wound up about 10 minutes late to the start of the movie, walking in basically at the main character’s death, meaning i missed all context of her former life. so throughout the movie i was in the dark of who she was and found out as she did. (1/2)

God, James is sweet, but he's so dumb, and right now, I can only take so much of sweet.

season 2 is such a mixed bag. some of the best and worst of the series.

i’ve probably watched all of twin peaks half a dozen times and i now always fast forward through James Hurley’s Side Quest, for example.
