As a kid, drawing scenes from Mario Bros was always one of my favorite things to put on paper. And yet, as an adult artist, how is it that I have no artwork of my main man Mario?

An acrylic drawing of Eurasian Blackbird which is sitting on some foliage. It's super round and chonky, a rather small, black bird with yellow beak and yellow ring around its eye. It doesn't bother getting to bird feeder, it's waiting for other birds to get these seeds down for it to eat.

Honestly, the sooner you can unlearn jealousy and envy as reactions to others’ success, the better off you’ll be.

There are better ways to motivate yourself to succeed than hoping that your peers don’t.

The New Galatea, a grand lady of marble, is carving herself out of a large marble block, in a baroque ruin. She’s given herself an outrageously elaborate marble gown and hairstyle, because she can.

The Rose Queen, in a grand rose gown, is surrounded by her court of elegant bee attendants in a spacious pavilion decked with roses. The bee courtiers are all vying for her attention.

The Storm Goddess, garbed in storm clouds, dances in a thunderstorm, her fingers snapping lightning.

A vast and mysterious faerie entity appears in the swirling clouds over an Italian mountain range, wearing a mystic golden amulet with a wonderful crystal. A lone cloaked traveller looks up at her.

A digital painting and work-in-progress of a painting I started at the end of last year. We see a star-filled sky at twilight, with a fiery-red light coming from the bottom of the frame where the top half of a fiery individual stands holding a sword to the sky, where a teal green comet falls down towards the point of the sword. The person's rib cage is visible, as a brilliant light is coming from inside their chest which has ignited their skin, bursting forth from their skin, eyes and mouth as they reach upward into the sky.

Perhaps you're right. Then I'm in good company

It's a difficult balance, being an artist and finding a way to make a living in this world.

They way I see true art, those concepts feel contradictory.

I feel like I'm quite experienced allowing feeling to guide my work, but I wonder at times if I shouldn't display more control and find a niche.

But trying to control the wind feels as though it would only narrow my artistic range. I don't feel like I can sacrifice my creative freedom for "success"

I'm trying to get myself together as an artist, I swear. Sometimes it's surpising where creative winds can take you.

Thank you. Yeah I'm not sure if I will ever put this much detail into a piece again. The composition suffers a little because of it, I think.

That sounds like an interesting project! I suppose anything with "abomination" at the end will turn out to be interesting

Happy woman’s day to all the women out there! It is insane to see that we are still having gender based laws in the 21st century, that there are places in the world where women have to cover their faces, where they can be mistreated just because they were born as women. The madness should stop!
