skateboarding, anthropology, religious studies, neurodiversity... idk what else. "No more of such vague formulas as 'The Right to work,' or 'To each the whole result of his labour.' What we proclaim is THE RIGHT TO WELL-BEING: WELL-BEING FOR ALL!" - p.k.
i need healthier media consumption habits.
i've left most of my social media accounts for the sake of my mental health and i'm thinking i might have to do that with bluesky too. it's better here but honestly i just don't think i need this many opinions in my life. and i really am not doing well receiving every bit of news as it breaks.
It's valid to tell people "I have plans" if your plans are to sit on your couch. That's a type of plans
Mayor Mamdani and a child play with Legos while looking very serious and concentrated. The child is impossibly adorable and wearing tiny blue glasses.
No interruptions, please. Weβre building universal child care.
If you havenβt finished a residency, and donβt have a medical license, you shouldnβt be the Surgeon General of the United States.

A sequence of shots from the TV series MASH. Three surgeons are operating in a mobile army surgical theater, and are masked in cotton masks, wearing cotton caps to cover hair, and aprons. Bright lights are visible in their backgrounds. The first, panel shows Frank Burns (an absolute jerk character but Larry Linville, his actor, was not) saying, βEverybody knows war is Hellβ. The second panel shows BJ Hunnicutt (Mike Farrell) saying (sarcastically) β remember, you heard it here last.β The third and fourth panels show Hawkeye Pierce (Alan Alda) saying, βWar isnβt Hell. War is war and Hell is hell and of the two, war is a lot worse.β 5th panel shows Father Mulcahey, the chaplain (William Christopher) saying, βHow do you figure that, Hawkeye?β 6th is back to Hawkeye, saying β Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?β 7th is Fr Mulcahey saying β Sinners, I believe.β The last three panels are all Hawkeye, saying, β Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. But war is chock full of them. Little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for a few of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.β

Universal basic income and healthcare should have both been implemented decades ago, but the second best time is right this goddamn instant.
Autistic eating disorders are often misunderstood.
People assume itβs about body image.
But for many of us, itβs about something else entirely.
Interoception - or lack of.
When you canβt reliably feel hunger, fullness, or internal states, eating becomes guesswork.
That guesswork becomes chaos.
i think of this often, that this quote actually reflects some people's priorities. i hate it.

CSPAN @cspan . @SpeakerJohnson after House blocked War Powers Resolution: "We're not at war, we have no intention at being at war. The president and the Department of Defense have made it very clear, this is a limited operation."
Darkly funny he had enough self-awareness to revert to "Department of Defense" here.

At this point, it's safe to assume most of the Republicans are talking like nazis in their group chats.
For about $2.5 billion a day, we could provide a $500 per month UBI to every American β adults and kids. Poverty would be reduced by 65%. Child poverty would drop by over 80%. Extreme poverty would be essentially eliminated. Inequality would drop by about 20%.
We can do/be so much better than this.
we can't shop our way to an ethical culture.
