We cover pop of 2.7 M (Oxfordshire 750k)- vast majority ie~80% of emergency admissions not from our own ED but transferred from regional DGHs
With older population , prevalence of anticoagulation, and better availability of CT and MRI, rates and rate of detection of CSDH are going up in my view
It is one of the most common operations performed!
So yes - many many patients referred, not all need surgery, but we perform multiple operations per week for CSDH, and occasionally MMA embolisation
