When taking an art history class that got around to talking about it too, my professor brought up how important the mona lisa being a woman was to the painting- her prominent, bold demeanor was not seen much at all in other paintings of women! She’s slick with it!

The mona lisa is actually pretty cool! Its one of the first paintings to depict a woman in a softly shaded, sfumato painting. It gives her depiction a “mysterious” quality which has sparked endless discussion over. Give it a close look whenever you get the chance- the blending of colors is beautiful
