They're making me use a windows computer for work and I'm gonna quit I think. Prank software. Not real
Is it really a war?
Play along with Andrew Heaton's new game show.
Could an empire in decline do THIS? *launches deeply unpopular invasion cementing status as lunatic-led pariah state, its not clear what kind of move i was trying to do*
Kolanovic.
I say this every year, but:
The uni students I'm teaching are thoughtful, intelligent, will make everything they encounter better.
With a new addition for 2026:
They deeply hate AI.
I heard the audio. He said it.
Lord. What have y'all done.
yeah sounds like everything is fine and there's no chance of continued shipping disruptions or additional conflict
good work everyone we're done here we can all go home
Iran has been 6-12 months away from a nuclear bomb for my entire life.
I'm sorry, this is all so new and confusing to me. Can you recommend a book about the mingling of religion and politics to help me understand?
1000%
Greatest Estate Developer is peak art and you owe it to yourself to read it even if the genre isn't usually your thing.
Oops! Looks like "Chicago Progressive Partnership" (the supposedly separate super PAC running this attack ad) just outed themselves and confirmed the speculation that it's the same group (AIPAC) behind the pro-Fine/anti-Biss super PAC "Elect Chicago Women" aka: ECW
"ECW: You are now opted-out..."
See this doesn't make sense because several Very Intelligent People spent hours and hours and hours berating me for suggesting that not only would let Trump keep going, but that Dems would ultimately support it. Internet Liberal Thinklords wouldn't be wrong about something like that, would they?
I think this is true but also in a strategic sense, pretty clearly an Iranian victory: we threw everything at them and proved we could not dislodge them.
The question will be if the administration can succeed at spinning it as a success, rather than the defeat it is (I kinda suspect yes?)
π
Trump thinks he can will peace into being. A lot of people are about to find out the hard way that the enemy gets to vote on how "over" the war is.
Serenity was the order of the day at 4 this morning, no sun but very interesting sky. π
So glad no one actually seems to know what the strategic goal of this war is, thatβs historically always turned out Extremely Well
As someone who loves tech toys, I get the appeal of maximally-living worlds. But, even if you assume GenAI is useful for that (it isn't), I don't think that actually translates to an interesting *game*. At best, you're just adding filler to bulk out how the game looks at first glance
Sure, it's closed in physical reality. But the vibes are flowing freely and that's what our economy really runs on these days.
Trump just said "the war is basically over, also we want a different ayotollah, and were going to take over the straight of Hormuz" and markets were like "he said the war is over!" immediately reversed 3% and oil dropped $30 a barrel. Our entire economic lives are determined by earth's easiest marks
I had a relative who started giving people ball point pens when her dementia got really bad, don't know what made me think of that just now
a number of thoughts here:
- oh my god he admit it
- what happened to the reactionary group chat?!
- commonality here is that none of these inputs will offend their sensibilities by challenging their worldview one bit
- i expect a full pivot from this class to 'filter bubbles are great, actually'
I understand that there are a lot of folks on the left who instinctively recoil from religious language, and with good reason given its use by the right.
But please listen to this, and focus on how he's trying to realign "Christian values" so they align with and advance progressive policy goals.
The Satanic Panic showed the terrifying truth of how easy it is to manipulate a person's deepest thoughts, emotions, and memories. I love that we've created a machine that can streamline and automate that process and that we have rebuilt our entire economy around putting it everywhere.
This is the country where about 60 million people reacted to being told to take an injection to not die gasping for breath in agony as though they were the most oppressed people since the Rohingya
the thing is that it won't matter because Americans react minor inconveniences the way people in other countries react to a sinkhole opening up and swallowing the national capital during a presidential address
It's hard to internalize the fact that the administration really does believe the Iraq war was "woke" and that they would be able to easily defeat a substantially more powerful nation simply by being based chads
People did argue Eliza was self-aware. And it was just about 200 lines of code. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA#R...
