I think the government should build enough social housing that everyone qualifies if they want it. Since they're not doing that, I'd like it to at least be legal for the market to build more new housing since that makes older housing affordable. This is all of the above situation for me.
These charts are showing that building a ton of new market-rate apartments reduces rents at old market-rate apartments so much that they become cheaper than "affordable" housing.
The median American does not need to be on the dole for housing support like they are right now if we just BUILD ENOUGH NEW MARKET-RATE HOUSING!

Have noticed I don't see people speeding/honking on quiet residential side streets in the suburbs like I see it all the time on quiet residential side streets in the city. So they know that suburban families deserve safety and respect and they just don't think our urban families deserve that. 💀
