Fab blog by the way @karachrome.bsky.social. Youβve summed up the issues exactly. There are a handful of learning disability physicians now, across the country (and Iβm starting a new role myself soon), but itβll be a while before thereβs anywhere near enough.
Completely agree learning disability medicine needs to be a specialty of its own. Weβre chipping away at it! The PGCert course is a good starting point, until we get enough leverage, interest and funding to be able to do more.
Long words? Iβll have to Google π€ͺ
Thank you! Hoping we can start to make a difference

Do you get it now?
If you get pepper-sprayed, avoid rubbing your eyes. Instead, irrigate them with lots of water, says Dr. Trisha Pasricha, our Ask a Doctor columnist.
We welcome the updated publication of the 8th LeDeR report for 2023.
Although the report provides important insights, the pace of change remains far too slow.

A reminder that anyone aged 14 and over can request an annual health check at their GP practice.
This should then result in any health needs being met and a plan for moving forward to ensure optimum health throughout the year.
