One single post could not more sum up everything right now
Today was a very busy day, but I ended it reading a book which challenged my ethical prejudices (something I find hard but satisfying) and now I am taking the rare indulgence of putting my headphones on and listening to my favourite songs LOUD.
π€£Just doing the waking up re-assessment...
π«I'm sorry. Sending support through the internet.
Writing be like:
I have a plan!
Okay, this is not the plan, but let's see where it goes.
This is not remotely what I intended, but okay...
I have no idea how I got here, but wow.
This is free fall now and it's getting scary.
Voila! I have no idea where that came from, but apparently it was me.
Me: I have zero inspiration for poetry tonight... Then
She rides a golden curlew over the moor at night
Waving a teasel seed head like a morning star
This is going to be strange and bizarre...

That is awful. I am so sorry you went through all that, and hope the health stuff improves. π«
I did, but grief is not a one off thing, so lots of hugs and sympathy for now as well. Also good luck and hugs for the busy time. I had one pretty much Aug-last week, and it really is draining.
Thank you. And I'm sorry about Grace. π«
She gets monthly injections now to help with the arthritis, and is doing so much better than I would have imagined possible a month ago when she was incontinent and falling over.
I have to take kitty to the vets tomorrow, so I have to sleep. But as long as I get some other stuff done tomorrow, I can return to writing tomorrow evening.
πIt's 3.15 am and I am having to force myself to go to bed because I am IN THE WRITING FLOW. OMG I have missed having the time/energy to write. My life, how I have missed you (and will appreciate you as much as I can before all chaos ensues again.)
So much this. If you waste my time, or treat my time as your disposable resource, I will hate you on levels you will never comprehend.
Well done, and I'm sorry. I hate these situations, but sometimes they're necessary.
Oh my word, I had a nightmare with that company last year. Got away form them as fast as I could. I'm sorry you had to deal with them. π«
They look lovely (and morish)
Eak. Wishing the best for you both. I hope she recovers quickly.
You successfully sold me something. I bought a No Cold Calling Sign online.
Congratulations to the company that sent their team out with such impressive scripts and strategies to try and sell us home improvements we did not want. After waking up my ill SO once, and not reading the response, with a colleague following up 10 mins later, and a phone call within 15 mins...
πEveryone is making a liar out of me tonight. (including myself.) I said I would wait up and when the cat came in, I'd feed him so my SO could sleep uninterrupted, but the cat must have been in the house, so went through to wake him up. And I rejoined the horror that is instagram, and I feel dirty
I used a few search alternatives from google to duck duck go. Even though I grew up without the internet, this feels unsettling to me, and I'm going to take stock about how/where I get my information. 3/3
On one level, it's not important in the grand scheme, a bad car crash in a rural area. But it also feels like a door is closing that you can search for local news for a village with the village name and no/few results will come up for the past day/week, when there are several articles out there. 2/3
I saw something happen locally. I did a few internet searches for the news after the event to see what happened. It didn't appear in any news searches, so I assumed it wasn't picked up. Then searching on bsky I saw a local newspaper was sharing the story 2 days ago. 1/3
Since I vowed to finish reading some of the books I'm currently reading before I start/buy anything new, I have bought 4 and started 2 more. Finish none.
Someone asked me if I had a certain book a while back, I said I did, as I didn't want them spending their money on me (because I know they don't have much). I secretly got the book, so when they visit, I'd really have a copy. And when it arrived I realised I did in fact already have the book.
I've just seen what happened. Glad you're still with us and best wishes for your recovery.
The cover of my book : natureβs acre: an Irish garden memoir of making a place where life grows.
I wrote a book called Natureβs Acre β an Irish garden memoir about wildlife, community, and making a place where life can grow.
If that sounds like your kind of book, Iβd love you to read it. And if youβd share this, Iβd be very grateful.

Aw, thank you! It's a variety of red poppy, which used to grow in my garden, but sadly they died out and I've not been able to find seeds for them since.
Thank you!
