Why do people phone my mobile, like an actual phone call in 2026, and are so surprised when I don't just pick it up instantly, like I'm not constantly in meetings or being mithered by children? Give me a time when you will call, it's not 1998 and I'm on the other end of a family landline.
Update from my house of pestilence: me and both my kids have got pretty bad fluid on our lungs and need antibiotics, somehow my husband has escaped it completely and is not a gracious winner.
Aw thanks everyone! I had to cancel my weekend plans too and I think I need antibiotics, some chest fluid thing is happening to me. :-(
Gate to a field with sheep and fells in the background, taken out of a car window.
I see sheep, fells and green things! There is a cool breeze and white flowers on the Blackthorn #home
Scholarly communications without digital preservation is just content creation.
I am so mad I had to go home and I canβt ask things! I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on how cyber security comes into this - is that what we are really paying for, not the features?
Demand from the big ones, collaborate with the small ones.
Preach! Feeling this one.
Haha!
Have a look for support resources in Book 9 of #CopimCompass

Thankyou! I was so excited for it and was so pleased with how it went.
#copimconference I'm heading home early as I just can't shift this chest infection and you don't want me coughing through your talks. I'll join you online for day 2 from the train. Have a good day, and message me about accessibility any time!
...and I started there because of my own lived experience of a communication disability.
Loved this point! I began my accessible OA discussions thinking about plain language and lay summaries and it is great to finish our work by returning to where we started. So much more work to do, but don't worry, Copim's accessibility team will leave you with a well described list π

Good tips for some easy accessibility wins
Lots of work for us left to do with accessible OA
Merged cells in datasets also make it impossible to analyse. Accessibility = Usability
Looooove this!!
Beyond Accessibility session need to happen more at other industry conferences. Though I missed Tobe Amadi's presentation, the focus on usabililty aspect by @anicazeyen.bsky.social's presentation is on point. Open Access tends to miss these issues.

Open access means that nobody can tell you you can't read something. Always true, but so very, essentially, bulldozingly important here in the US right now. #copimconference
We start with a welcome for the bursary winners, awarded in memory of Copim's beloved friend and colleague Elaine Sykes, a small yet fierce member of the #CopimCommunity

A slide showing the front page of Adema and Moore's 2021 paper on scaling small
#CopimConference @openreflections.bsky.social explaining 'scaling small', one of the theoretical foundations for Copim and an important pillar in how I think about building open infrastructures.
I am on route to chair Copim's accessibility panel! Might need a nap once I arrive as I've been up all night coughing, but I've cheered myself up by remembering I planned my route without the tube, hooray.
