The legal team involved in the case won ‘Most Outstanding Impact Award’ for their work at the Citizens Advice Awards 2024.

Legal costs and the costs risks involved are one of the major barriers to people bringing discrimination claims. QOCS for County Court claims would be helpful. Our view is that there should be a similar arrangement for Employment Tribunals in discrimination cases.

We welcome a positive signal from the government that they recognise the unsustainable funding of Legal Aid, but we also register concern that this still leaves us at the same level of fees as in 1996. Even this 10% increase will be entirely wiped out by increases to salaries and employers NICs
