Burning out a stump. The English privit grew into a chain link fence. Cannt cut it out. Worked on conditioning a new bed.

Hands in the soil. Watching plants grow without hurry. Listening to trees move in the wind. Clay worked slowly, honestly. Liam and Thad on East 3rd Street, Washington NC—showing up, tending what’s here, letting things become what they are.

When the previous stewards left they took many of the pavers. Away because they were donated and they wanted to preserve that intention. What they left was a trench of plastic weed fabric 5” Og granite gravel and 2” of sand 9” below The grade. I’m utilizing huglekultur to recalibrate the soil.
Remembering the snow
The widow doesn’t even attach to the body. It’s only a storm window and the tapped up plastic that keeps The wind at bay.
A nail into the sash holds the window in place
Last of the snow is receding. We discovered that no one lived in this house. Certainly not through winter. The windows are ornamentation only we will have to request from the historic commission to replace all of the windows. Arggg more $$$$$
Garden view blue tape= reduce air flow from outdide.
View of the barn, garden and, neighbors.
Street view
View from Thads office window.
Views from the second floor.
Thads office got a bed. Up in it and his family pieces. Do we can have guests soneday.
All of the window are decorative and not sealed. Painters tape reduced are flow
MisThing stsying warm. Thad resting aftrr a week of moving.
We are 80% moved in. Still need to relocate pantry. And kitchen from 401.
The bathroom. Finally got the shower ready with hot water working. We can enjoy a hot shower.
The kitchen. My old desk won't fit in the office upstairs so it's a pkace holder for the future island. The stove the previous owner left is not safe. The burners don't turn off. All good for now I've portable induction burners but no oven. Maybe a large toaster oven, sous vide and microwaves. The dink is barely stanfibg . Work in progress.
The living room, currently has a full mattress set. The head board would not fit to go up the tiny 1800’s stairs.
The main bedroom. No closets. Arggg and no heat other than portables.
Rainy sunday. After a week of moving. The barn is full of unorganized stuff. The 219 house is inhaling whilst the 401 house exhales. The goal: get the 401 house ready to present to the next occupant.
Our house is slowly changes places one empties whist the other swells
28 hours later, supporting because tge soil is very alpine rocky #krackedpot
Removing the blue atlas cedar from the front bed.
Trunk of the dwarf blue atlas cedar

The bane of my gardening ideas. Devils claw vine. Super energy conserver with tubers that that make it return with a curse.
Staging freshly cut logs to be inoculated in the dappled shade (soon in spring ) of the pecans. A mushroom garden in the making left to right pecan and Chinese privet
Yesterday at the farm the tea plants are settling in and new growth is promising. The cut logs offers prospective of a future mushroom grove. The Northspore plugs are ordered. Going to try on top of oysters and terrestrials of wine caps, and Italian oyster. I may try lions mane snd something new.
Yea we got approval from the historic commission to move our potters studio to the center of the property between thejoise and batn at 219 East 3rd Street. Things are progressing. Cleared the two invasive plants. Ligustrums: english and chinese. Imaging this facing-the tea-garden. We are happy.

Working in the dark
Tomorrow is our historic commission hearing to move the potters shed to 219 east 3rd along with the greenhouse and hot tub. Today was Removing limbs and branches from the broken tree. Moving the massage studio and setting one up on east 3rd. Rewarded with a colorful sunset and clean up in the dark
We lost a pecan tree from the wind cracked on the western side facing the house. It was a small one but best got it down before it landed on the house. We got it to fall to the east. House is safe for another day.
Today's adcenture s. Removing to invasive plants. Ligustrums, English and Chinese bothway overgrown. And heavy fruit oriducersno more seedlings everywhere
Stuff we won’t use. And need to make room for more plants.
Another day of change. The dumpster arrived this morning. By evening it’s full. #tKPonE3rd
Sane view as the before photo with the flagstones. This now has camellia senseis mother plants for tea.
The flagstones and most of the bricks removed we repurposed from what the RHH left. This is the area where the potters studio will be relocated pending ok from the historic council we had to agree to remove the outbuilding built on the FEMA lot
The elders fire pit looking east. The Rose Gaven House removed much of the donated bricks and pavers
I have one last tea camellia plant to relocate. This is the comparison. Which really made it easy to change the land. What was the elders fire pit is the new home for our mother stock camellia senensis plants from www.greatmsteacompany.com and www.fleurdelisteaco.com I also have F1 seed and seedlings
Today I created a grape arbor by repurposing the one on the property. 10 x 10 on off center 6 poles. Each will have a single muscadine variety To grow on I’ll also transplant my kiwis onto their own trellis system. We have room to inhale some.

The beginning of a mixed orchard
The future orchard
The tea garden
Added a couple more camellia chinensis to the tea bed. Primed the figs hard to transplant. Planted more fruit trees and pruned the peaches into tree shape. They were really bushy.
Been transplanting plants from N. Market to tKP on East 3rd. This if the tea collection Here’s to servivability of Canella senensis
Side view of potters shed at east market
The potters studio
You may have seen the historic Washington announcement sign in front of 319 East Third Street. We are requesting to relocate the potter’s studio and greenhouse from Marjet Street to this site, continuing stewardship through reuse, repair, and intentional growth aligned with our current goals.
The exchange of stewardship allows the Rose Haven Institute to realign and move forward, while the relocation of The Kracked Pot reflects our current aspirations, goals, and the direction we’re ready to grow into.
We didn’t relocate because of failure. We relocated because an opportunity appeared and we were ready. The Kracked Pot has been successful as an Airbnb host, but East 3rd Street offered something more aligned with where we’re headed. It was the right moment to take it on.
What we saw was what a short amount of time can erase work and effort
Without much drama, we resolved a situation and took on a dream. We gathered the best of what was left behind and carried it forward. Repurpose. Reuse. Reinvent. That’s my motto for 2026.
We waited for the land to be released by its former stewards. At the end of November it was let go. In December we signed, released savings, and followed the opportunity. As they relocated what they could, we took on the rest. A true season of transition.
