In my opiion -which you did not ask for I'm srry but I find it an interesting topic -- some degree of shielding is okay cause it gives the children a secure base. Once they grow up with a secure base then they have the strength to handle challenges.

We all think we know the finances of our elders. We probably don't. But ask your grandma about the years she didn't work. And prepare to find out she has a social security check of her own because she did in fact work. Or she had cottage industry income. You just didn't know about it.

One of my favorite things about Ramadan is its emphasis on giving and empathy for others.

In what's become a 7 year old tradition, every day of Ramadan, I'll be spotlighting a single charity or cause--some international, some US-based.
