how to tell the ao3 gods that I have an important test tomorrow and no other way to procrastinate
hopping back on here to update my bio (my sapphic, makeup-obsessed zombies got me an agent π) and try to actually stick around this time maybe? π
congratulations! this sounds AMAZING!!!
honestly same
itβs only february and I already need a vacation. genuinely donβt know how people who live in places that donβt have carnaval make it through this first part of the year without a break π
βworldbuildingβ but the world is my mcβs parents and the building is killing them
an agent's guide to HOW TO HIDE DEATH AND OTHER IMPERFECTIONS AN 80K WORDS COZY CONTEMPORARY FANTASY
PITCH / COMPS WARM BODIES MEETS SIX FEET UNDER WHEN A RECENTLY TURNED ZOMBIE MUST LEARN TO NAVIGATE UNDEATH WHILE WORKING IN HER GRANDMA'S FUNERAL HOME AND USING MAKEUP TO HIDE HER (UN)DEAD LITTLE SECRET, BUT HER DEDICATION TO KEEPING HER LIFE EXACTLY AS IT WAS BEFORE HER TURNING IS TESTED WHEN A BAR OWNER AND FELLOW ZOMBIE STARTS BRINGING FOOD TO THEIR MOURNERS underneath the text, there are pictures of 4 books: The very secret society of irregular witches Emily Wildeβs encyclopaedia of faeries The house in the cerulean sea The honey witch
TROPES / VIBES HOLD YOU WHILE YOU CRY KIND OF COZY SAPPHIC ZOMBIES FALLING IN LOVE BLACK CAT X GOLDEN RETRIEVER BADASS EX-BIKER TURNED FUNERAL HOME OWNER GRANDMA SIDE CHARACTER FOUND FAMILY & REFINDING YOUR BLOOD FAMILY DEATH NOTICES AS A SLIGHT MULTIMEDIA BUT I END UP CRYING AS I WRITE THEM BECAUSE I'M NOW IN LOVE WITH THESE DEAD CHARACTERS (THAT WERE LITERALLY CREATED TO DIE...)
FIRST CHAPTER DEATH SMELLED LIKE THE MAKEUP AISLE IN A CONVENIENCE STORE. SICKLY SWEET, VANILLA SCENTED AND WITH ONE TOO MANY DROPS OF FORMALDEHYDE, ARABELLA HAD MASTERED THE ART OF IGNORING THE WAY IT CLUNG TO EVERY INCH OF THE LUTO FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AS A CHILD. (one of) MY FAVORITE QUOTE LIFE WASN'T FAIR, NEITHER WAS DEATH, BUT GRIEF WAS THE THING THAT LINGERED IN THE MIDDLE- SACRED, UNAVOIDABLE, AND THE ONLY TIME IN A PERSON'S LIFE WHERE THEY COULD HOLD OUT THEIR BLEEDING SOULS AND NOT BE TOLD IT NEEDED TO BE STITCHED UP IMMEDIATELY
an agentβs guide to πͺwip, my odd little book about grief, how we try to uphold our motherβs beauty standards even when we feel like weβre dying, and the Luto Family Funeral Home

a 3x3 moodboard. All of the pictures are black and white, showing an empty classroom, kinda running in front of an old looking building, an empty train, a woman dressed as cupid, old cars, a tattoo shop, the words βthe endβ over closed curtains like in an old movie, two girls with their arms out of a car. In the center, thereβs a brown background with the words βwelcome to the luto family funeral homeβ in white

Iβm seeing a lot of people starting to query so hereβs my unsolicited advice:
write down what you love about your book. little things, big things, it doesnβt matter. write them down and hold them close because the trenches have a funny way of making you forget them
starting a first draft and loving these characters and all the scenes youβre excited to write yet being sad that one day youβll be tired of them and rereading the same thing over and over is such a unique writer emotional rollercoaster
was reading an article for school and started thinking about how it sounded like something emily wilde would write and that might be the best example of voice in writing I can give people
the cover is GORGEOUS π
idk, for me, personally, if itβs an enemies-to-lovers situation and the βbetrayalβ happened before they get together then itβs not a betrayal because there wereβ¦ enemies
drafting might actually be happening for the first time in a while but I canβt get too excited or my brain will be spooked into another writerβs block
and itβd be an instant must read for me
was having a semi productive drafting day but somewhere along the way I started researching the history of canadaβs rock exhibitions π«
the freedom of writing something absolutely terrible and it being okay because itβs a β¨first draftβ¨
shockingly, the tv show everyone said would make me cry did, indeed, make me cry
this is my official petition to have every author who has a pet in their book put a disclaimer in the beginning that says wether or not they make it
born to watch happy endings, forced to watch as the character constantly falls for the wrong guy while the love interest I like slowly loses her π
officially moved to StoryGraph this year and while Iβve enjoyed it so far and definitely think itβs better than gr, I wish they had an option to specify age group while browsing books and that we could create and share book lists
reading a book where the character has an elderly dog companion and sheβs starting to worry about it more. I (recently lost my own elderly dog) will simply not survive if the dog doesnβt make it through the rest of the series
and it should be July (aka my birthday month)
was so okay with killing my darlings until the darling in question was the set up for one of my favorite premises that I had written my favorite first line for and regularly daydreamed about
reading books you donβt think are good is actually really useful as a writer. Iβve learnt just as much reading βbadβ books as I have reading ones I thought were masterpieces
going on the StoryGraph website and discovering they have the option to join readalongs with random people and there are conversations separated by which part of the book youβve read to avoid spoilers. this might be their best feature yet
YOU GUYS QUERYTRACKER PATRICK FIXED THE FORMATTING ISSUES IN QUERY MANAGER AND NOW IT KEEPS THE ITALICS, BOLD, UNDERLINES, ETC.. ENDING 2024 WITH A BANG
hardest part about growing up, for me, is letting go of the person I thought I should/would be and allowing a new, happier, healthier version to exist in its place without truly believing that I killed the adult younger me wouldβve loved
wrote a first line for something new and thatβs how I know an idea is becoming an actual wip
thank you! itβs been so much fun researching and finding so many books Iβm excited to read
