Happy to announce new work by Postdoc Fellow Yu-Sheng Yeh & @razanilab.bsky.social showing natural sugar #trehalose (known #autophagy #TFEB inducer) improves #obesity #metabolism. Caveat: it is ineffective by oral route & KO of gut enzyme #trehalase doesn't help.

Lysosomal Acid #Lipase (Lipa/LAL) is upregulated in #AdiposeTissue during #fasting, cold exposure, and even #obesity. When we ablate #adipocyte Lipa/LAL, mice cannot undergo full #lipolysis with difficulty maintaining body temperature in cold. On #highfat diet, they become obese.
