Really proud of PhD student Mary McMahon for leading. Findings were critical to developing ANCHOR (Aphasia: Nurturing Connections, Honoring Ongoing Relationships), a program designed to help people with #aphasia maintain pre-stroke friendships, improving social inclusion and #mentalhealth.
Excited to share our latest article!
We examined #SLP2b student experiences of a #StudyAbroad class focused on #dementia inclusive programs & the role of #SLPeeps in #dementia care.

UPDATE: Submitted to another, higher impact journal where reviewers applauded methods and gave a decision of Accept pending minor revisions. Thanks for all of the help and encouragement!
Iβve seen Article Friend! Very cool. Check it out!
So sorry to hear this. Another colleague suggested editors and reviewers are using AI as well, which may be why the comments are so off base.
We do. And fortunately have some funding to make it open access so it gets the readership we were hoping for in our first journal choice.
Yes, I did that in the first email with the appeal and the editor just doubled down. I actually pointed to multiple papers published in the journal over the last year or two.
I wish it was a reviewer. This was a dead reject from an editor.
Thank you @ginnybraun.bsky.social. I had some of these but not all. The most frustrating part is that a recent PhD student is the first author and the study highlights experiences of healthcare in a marginalized population. We will find a better home for our study with reviewers who improve it!

@ginnybraun.bsky.social
Our qualitative study got desk reject for βsample sizeβ & βvalidityβ. Appealed & reply said we should add 1)coder reliability & 2)numerical data in a table to justify βtheme saturationβ for paper to go to review. Iβve published qual work for 9 years & donβt know how to deal w/ this quant bias. Help!

π£οΈFirst Bluesky post seems like a good opportunity to share the second publication of my PhD! It outlines the design & development of our education package about community #aphasia group facilitation, and our phase I acceptability pilot. More info on phase II will follow soon @aphasiacre.bsky.social
I have taken this course myself and recommend it to any researcher or clinician wishing to start their own peer befriending schemes or similar programs. I learned a ton we are now implementing through our local #aphasia center.
Want to be my new colleague? My department are hiring phd fellows in linguistic and verbal communication. It's a fully funded position.
Thank you @ashajournals.bsky.social for providing temporary open access for this paper. International colleagues, you should now have access!
Please consider supporting this fund in memory of our #aphasia colleague, Davetrina

What is known about the friendships of those who use #AAC devices? Communication is important to friendship: So, severe communication impairment may impact the establishment or maintenance of friendships in unique, important ways. on.asha.org/40eZFhe
