Yapping thread sorry (not that anyone reads my posts lol), but again just been thinking about this a lot. Especially with the hypocrisy of this "cultural loss" the right and English complain about.

It's all because of the English Canadians. There is no perfect operator in history, not trying to make ANGELS of the French Colonists, but I've been thinking about this a lot lately. But it is legitimately sad to think how bad my French is. Good I can recall traditions a gen later.

I also have Indigenous ancestry, all French Canadian's do to an extant, but moreso because of my mothers side. So if anyway should be complaining about "our culture, way of life, sense of self" getting taken away it's me. But it's not because of modern immigrants.

We both had our culture stripped away, the Federal Government made concentrated efforts to make us British Citizens, with legalese and smear campaigns, and with the Indigenous violence and torture. And now they tell us we should be scared of the Muslim coming here, the Indians.

Anti-French language laws, and then after those were repealed we still have a strong anti-French news/media. Québec's separatist movement has long been mocked, and while it's an impossibility it's now without reason. They saw what happened to the rest of New France.

See what they did to the various Indigenous groups, the French Canadians. Yes, even fellow "European" descendants. We don't really talk about it, but long before Canada's multicultural arc, what it was to be Canadian was being British. Ontario had a long history for trying to assimilate Canadiens.

It's always telling when these rightoid English Canadians talk about immigrants coming here and eroding culture way of life etc they are so worried about it because their ancestors did it. Their memetic genetics are firing off fear of what they did happening to them.
