But his earlier unease is still present. He hesitates before stealing inside, then waits, attuning himself to the sounds and smells before creeping closer to the staircase. A low, murmur of conversation comes from upstairs. It could be that Oblodra woman with Dal, he supposes. She does still own the place. But the smell is wrong. He slinks up a couple more steps. 'So how are things going in the Underdark?' Dal’s voice might sound normal to anyone who doesn’t know her. But they’ve shared too much for Astarion to miss the telltale quiver in her tone. She’s scared.
