The latest study published in @JHSEur tested if transferring the PL tendon to the ulnar MCP joint capsule, without pulley modifications, improves thumb pronation.

Takayama et al. (2002) showed that transferring the abductor digiti minimi tendon to the ulnar MCP joint capsule restores thumb pronation.
Some studies suggest alternative insertion sites for the Camitz transfer (Brand, 1970; Bunnel, 1938).
Optimal PL tendon insertion is on the dorsoradial aspect of the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint (Camitz, 1929; Terrono et al., 1993).
Various modifications to the Camitz transfer aim to restore pronation, often incorporating pulley placements (Rymer and Thomas, 2016).
Despite good abduction, the Camitz transfer often fails to restore true thumb opposition due to lack of pronation (Braun, 1978; Foucher et al., 1991).
