I want to highlight the phrase "you do not need hrt to be trans" which sounds fine on paper for non transitioners to still feel valid, but it is actively harmful trans people who do medically transition by downplaying the important of hrt, which right wingers will use against us

Trans people who do not intend to medically transition are still trans, and diversity within the trans umbrella is great, but our material needs are different, which sometimes puts our interests at odds with each other.

I think the majority of people who self describe as transsexual are not leaning in to respectability politics, but are rather tired of cissexual transgender people acting as the authority on things that do not impact them such as hrt and srs and wanted a way to highlight the differences
