Absolutely! And if you don’t have a winter beater you can’t drive something cool when it’s nice. It’s a huge toll to pay.

I have a brother in Seattle so I keep an eye out there as well. I was always astonished while living there how many cars from the 60’s were parked on the street as daily drivers.
It’s not fair how long car last in the PNW. I could totally see picking a wagon with a stick and driving it back.
I have shivered in the warmth of the Minneapolis sun because I am desperate for spring. I am so happy to see buds popping forth on my silver maple.
You get that perfect blip shift from 3rd down into 2nd with the engine screaming and there’s nothing like it. I can’t wait until he gets into 3rd gear! 😂
Kids are home for spring break and today I had a very proud dad moment. I took the youngest out to drive a stick. There were ever so many stalls and he was super frustrated at times. However! I loved recanting all the stalls I made learning how to drive and I saw the spark. The kid gets it.
This poster slays.
Oh damn, I didn’t know about Da Yoopers Tourist Trap! And we drove through Ishpeming last summer too on our way to Marquette. My kids might have been perplexed as I told stories of listening to their tapes in the 90’s and seeing merch in the flesh. 😂
This is going to be so cool! Cannot wait. Thanks so much for doing all of this!
This is definitely worth the read and I cannot wait to go to Mancini’s.
We always stopped at the south side of the Mackinac bridge. So there was no way we’d stop again on the other. One year we did a tour of the fort and they fired a canon – that was cool!
Is the Mystery Spot still around? I’ve been over the bridge a couple of times in the last decade and I don’t recall seeing signs. On the other hand, I think more about visiting light houses these days. 😂
With a name like that though, I’m sure there’d be new mysteries with every visit.
How was it? I’m sure I wouldn’t be impressed as an adult today. 😂
I drive by this exact sign at least once a year on road trip to the U.P. of Michigan until I was 13. We never stopped for a visit. 😭
Great article! Can’t wait to go there. I’ve been meaning to for years.
Great photo series! Definitely made me nostalgic. I was definitely stoked to find out there’s one less than half an hour away from my folks in the U.P. of Michigan. Might have to drag my family to it this summer.
Oh damn, that’s good!
Oh, ringer is definitely better. 🙌🏼
My youngest went off the college this year so I’ve had plenty of time to think of this. I’m lucky I haven’t disassociated from my body, not that I haven’t tried.
Excellent revision.
Cool, looking forward to it. My neighbor's just took their respective mothers there Saturday. Between the two of them, they represent 170 years of grandma. I still haven't been there!
I would’ve guessed younger! But it wasn’t until ‘88 when I was in 8th grade that I discovered it. #fuckitallandfuckingnoregrets
A tiny green wagon on a model green wagon on an actual green BMW wagon. These are my people.
The Germans are my people. I realize now, that I have to travel to there to get the wagon of my dreams and import it. 25 years and younger is the key. #WagonsOnWagonsOnWagons
Don't mind me, I'm just searching German car sites looking for a wagon with a stick because Americans can't have nice things.

Shoot, thanks though!
How does one buy said amazeballs shirt? Speaking for a friend (me).
I still need to wear my Sinister Minnesotan shirt! I’ve been rocking my Hamm’s Abolish ICE tee when I’ve been wearing a tee
And they’re still sold out! 😭😭😭
Agreed, but I’m glad the kids are in good hands. My elementary school was unlocked, but today’s schools you have to badge in when it’s not drop off or pick up and that’s a good thing.
