Full moon glowing behind swirling clouds with a dark church steeple silhouetted in the foreground. Text says: Three days to honor the dead. Halloween, or "All Hallows’ Eve", begins the Christian tradition of Allhallowtide on 31 October.
Three days, three traditions: Allhallowtide links Halloween, All Saints’ Day, and All Souls’ Day.
Also called Hallowtide or Allsaintstide, it is a three‑day Western Christian season. 🧵⬇️ (1/3)

A photograph showing a memorial candle, with several smaller devotional candles burning directly behind.
We are made from dust and to dust we must return.
Ashes to ashes, earth to earth, dust to dust.
May those still with us find peace & comfort and may those who have departed be met with abundant love and rest eternal.

so much of the Bible takes place in Egypt and yet there's not a single mummy attack during any of those arcs, in case you were still under the illusion that prophets care about what the fandom wants

Tl;dr: Shaming those who hope their oppressor will die is wildly out of touch with the lived realities of powerless people who face oppression.
Maybe it isn't good for our souls, but it's better than believing we deserve to be oppressed. It's better than acceptance.

Once I was talking to a priest friend about how I don't like Lent, and she told me that for many marginalized communities it's a time to remember that oppressors are mortal.
"Dust you are, and to dust will you return" applies to the rich and powerful as well as the poor and vulnerable.

There was a French folk saint called St Foutin who was an unofficial patron of fertility and virility. Devotees would pray for healing by engraving waxen images of genitalia and suspending them from the ceiling (to the chagrin of regular worshippers).

In Chinese folk culture, when two trees grow together, their branches entwining as one, they are called Lianli Trees (连理树)—symbols of eternal love and unbreakable bond. Also known as Xiangsi Trees (相思树), "couple trees," or "life-and-death trees," they represent not only romantic devotion 1/2

Many religions and mythologies have triads of gods, but the concept of a triple deity is also surprisingly prevalent. A triple god or goddess is a deity who has 3 distinct aspects, or three deities who function as one.
You maybe be familiar with the best know classical example; The Fates.

Image shows a chromolithograph trade card based on a black and white photo taken of the Thirteenth Dalai Lama. He is dressed in ceremonial attire, including a pointed yellow hat, and sits behind an ornate dais on a platform decorated with devotional paintings and flowers.
The first photograph of a Dalai Lama was taken in 1921; it depicts “the Great Thirteenth,” Tubten Gyatso (1876–1933).
The image was published in various Western media, even making its way on to a multicolor lithograph trade card for the German company Liebig in 1935.

Thought on the wedding at Cana. Jesus, God incarnate, makes more drinks to keep the party going. We've often tried to mystic-ize the passage - but what if it's really just about God blessing human material pleasures? If we are destined for a physical rez then the material body and passions are good⚓
