Oh, that’s good. At Makushin we also had SOM for Sound of Music. The little valley was sweet and lush in a way the aleutians mostly aren’t.
But I failed in a late attempt to rename stations so that they
would spell ‘pencil dick’ on the map. Ask Paskievitch.
Good call. I named a repeater site on Makushin ‘God’s Own’ because it was the only landable place in a whole line of peaks and ridges. And you could walk out.
