Once the foundation of the ship mesh was setup, I started on the details.
Lots of dynamic (and static) lights added here - which would all need to be either baked to a texture or rebuilt in threeJS. #b3d #blender #threejs

From Day 1 of 3D modelling & material setup.
All just in Blender, no threeJS work at this point.
I just wanted the basis of the ship body down, and to start adding some of those classic star trek style ship lights (with lights later becoming a deep dive I wasnt expecting!)
๐งต Time for a dev thread - for my recent U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-G threeJS project.
1) 3D Modelling in blender.
Here is a timelapse video of the first 3 hours of (very rough!) speed modelling. youtube.com/watch?v=qupf... #Thread #b3d #Startrek #threeJS
There is just over 24h left to vote on entries, so if you are part of the #threejsJourney community and like this project, please be sure to check it out and vote!

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-G (threeJS edition!)
I spent the final 2 weeks of February working on this entry for the 'Spaceship' themed #threejs challenge.
Another entry for @bruno_simon's #threejsJourney community challenges (And one I had a lot of fun making!) ๐โจ #startrek
This game is looking (not to mention sounding) so good already!
Only just discovered it last week, but it already feels a lot like the magic we had with KSP for many years. It's been nice to find that again. Will be looking out for updates for the foreseeable future!
For a challenge like this, goals (+ how you track them) are completely up to each individual. The aim here is finding what helps you most - in terms of health & fitness.
It can be 1 habit. It can be 10 habits.
But always remember:
"Progress - not perfection!" #FitFeb
My habits for #FitFeb, quickly explained:
๐ค Sleep quality & regularity (~80% or above)
๐ฅDaily nutrition goal is ~1770 calories (negative = calories remain, positive = calories over)
๐ณProtein >100g
๐ฅค Daily water (2L)
๐๏ธโโ๏ธ Any fitness activity! (walk/hike/run/gym)
Anyway, here is a look at my #FitFeb challenge habits, and how I went for day 1 last week:

The 100 Day Challenges are a big effort I always find. And not always suited to everyone.
So after some discussion I felt it would be nice to smaller, themed self-improvement type challenges at other points through the year. But with shorter, more manageable timespans (ie 28 days!)
This is the 1st challenge for 2026. I just got most of the details/setup sorted out last week.
These challenges are pretty chill. I expect there will be more challenges through 2026, leading up to a 100 Day Challenge to end 2026 - after the success of our 2025 #100DayChallenge!
#FitFeb - A new (short) 28 Day Challenge!
I'm with a small group on my Discord - focusing on Health & Fitness goals to kick 2026 into gear. Just getting into the challenge this past week!

Ordered a new PSU, 'in stock' at a local store - and a week later I have no pickup notification.
I'm guessing 'in stock' means different things to different people!
Twitter certainly isn't the place it once was - unfortunately... so lately I have been branching out to some other platforms.
Hoping to find some new connections, neat art/dev and places to share my work - through 2026 and beyond!
I have ongoing content I started over on X/Twitter - and I want to keep that ball rolling here on Bluesky too ๐ฆ

This style of 'Visual Article' ... so cool.
I am going to keep this in mind and potentially build some visual articles into my new blog writings at some point - such a fun format to convey graphics concepts.
Man I really love this work. Your approach here with a 'visual article' is so engaging - such a innovative way to display information and concepts.
Is this kind of blog approach something you have some inspos for elsewhere?
At the dentist and the TV on the roof is playing politics nonstop for the whole session.
One of life's more terrible combinations.
The #TriKitFramework is a mixture of:
1) threeJS (foundational 3D library)
2) Blender (3D models/rigs/animation)
3) Custom/modular javascript components (and other common libraries which are supported - like Cannon-es or Rapier for physics) which tie it all together
#javascript #b3d #threeJS
It only felt fitting, after putting so much work into the framework during my 100 Day Challenge at the end of 2026 - to give it a proper name.
I'm using the framework as a base template for basically all my threeJS work at moving forward anyway ..
Decided to make a logo/name for the framework I have been putting together (and have now been using) since sometime around 2022.
Introducing my threeJS 'TriKit Framework'!

CGI was off the charts too. I saw Avatar in 3D today - I generally always see Avatar in 3D as its one of the few movies which doesn't overdo it.
But to create a movie of this length with CGI at this level is just the absolute pinnacle of the industry right now. Impressive stuff.
I really like a good enemy in a movie like this. Its too easy to fall into cliches and tropes (which there seem to be an unending amount of in these Avatar movies regardless) but eh, you will always get that to some degree with blockbuster movies.
What I wrote back in 2022 about Avatar 2:
"the characters were all surprisingly likable .. and I felt like they all got enough screen time to develop in various ways. But the enemies were so boring & bland. An interesting twist to start with, but ultimately 100% forgettable" ..
And I felt like my biggest issue with Avatar 2 was improved too - Avatar 3 had much more depth & thought put into the enemies ...
Super curious about the 'mother' angle too. I got a strong feeling that this god-like element is some kind of origin of life, and covers both humans and Na'vi (as it didnt distinctly look like either of the species). Tbh it looked more human than anything else. Solid 2001 vibes as well ...
Avatar3 didn't really take things in any major new directions, but it did bring the humans & Na'vi closer than ever (from both angles, which has been fascinating). Both species are being intertwined more & more - which raises deeper questions & reflections I think are perfect for Avatar to tackle ..
(getting into spoiler-ish thoughts now)
I feel the formula needs to evolve in the next 2 movies. These first 3 felt like they progress the story in reasonable ways, but the whole 'natives vs human invaders' back & forth on their home world has been through several cycles, its feeling repetitive ...
Some recent things Cameron has said make it sound like he is getting tired of these - now after 3x huge movies and almost 2 decades. Cant blame him, an unimaginable amount of work and dedication ...
